Thanks! Wow, £25k! Well i guess you can afford that if you can afford the cars!

Post millennium, my pal and I seriously considered this as back then it was 'only' 5K to enter. We knew it might be a year or two before we could get it all sorted but other events got in the way. Suffice to say we still kept it back in our minds.

I think due to the A listers (if you can call them that) getting more involved that the price jumped from 5 to 25k and it became a no no for us. Shame...

Wow, yea that is a shame. I didnt know it was all started by a Brit! What car were you thinking of using back then?

No super car that's for sure!

E36 M3 or an Evo5/6.

Not including the car, we had a budget of 10K to cover everything from the odd speeding fine to any repair bills etc.

Wow, still nice though! But yea i see what you mean, it would have been realistic (though still expensive) to do it back then but now i think its far out of reach for most of us. Shame as it sounds real fun!

I went this year.

www.betsafe.com did a competition to find a driver for Gumball. I didnt win but I came 4th and won some tickets to the VIP party in Barcelona. That coupled with a press pass I blagged me and my mate did pretty well to say we didnt pay the entry fee.

Me and my mate went in a BMW 335d and did London, Paris, Barcelona and Monaco. We came home then due to running out of money! But still got talking and to know a few gumballers and had such a laugh.

All my pics are here: http://s833.photobucket.com/albums/zz251/tfeb/Gumb...

My youtube vid is being edited and will be on soon but I'll post to my twitter when its done too. @eddybriggs

If you want to do it yourself why not?

If £25k is a tad steep (which it is of course) - get together with 15 or so friends and just do a run yourself following the same routes and stay in less pricey hotels.

15 cars = 30 people and a week away will be great fun.

Get one person to make up stages, treasure hunts etc..

On plus side you won't need to make small talk with gangster types, dubious sods, so called A-Listers, tired muscians, blaggers, wide boys and other who's GumBall 'legend' status has consumed them!

Plus you won't have too much car envy.

I am actually surprised PH have not enacted their own Euro hoon.
