Christ, a motoring forum and nobody has mentioned the fuel price drop. Or hasn't anyone noticed or perhaps can't believe it?

Oil prices have fallen 10 per cent in the three days since the International Energy Agency decided to release 60 million barrels of crude onto world markets, with fears of a global slowdown knocking prices.

The global advice group confirmed last week that the extra oil would be released from stockpiles over the next 30 days to make up for production lost because of the civil war in Libya.

Today I noted falls of around 3p a litre locally, not only at Supermarket sites but Esso as well.

And if you do your weekly shop at Sainsburys, they are giving 10p off a litre voucher if you spend 60 quid or more (today until 3 July).

Ok you gotta spend 60 quid, but who doesn't spend that on a weekly shop? More likely double that so we'll be going through with 2 sep trollies if we reach £120 so as to get 2 vouchers.

I should be filling up at around £1.22 a litre.

Because it's still not enough. Prices have climbed so much that they'll still need to drop further to be anywhere near levels we recognise as "acceptable".

It really wasn't that long ago that fuel prices were below £1.

Yeah I missed that. But I was tired when I posted!

Nonetheless, it was only last month PHs were saying like everyone else that the 2 quid litre was just around the corner.
There has been no action by anybody, tanker drivers, drivers etc, so it looked inevitable but I always said it wasn't sustainable (lovely 'greenie' word!).

Been to Swindon this morning and blow me down it was 128.70p, that's 7.2 pence less than the 135.90 I was paying last week locally. Swindon is one of the cheapest places for fuel, Esso station on outskirts, so why can't others do it?
My fill up of 60 litres weekly means £224.54 less over a year. I'm not complaining about that!

Every little helps as they say.

I filled up on Saturday at £1.34 a litre, then again on Tuesday at £1.31 a litre, and again today at £1.28 a litre for 95RON.

It was only 3 weeks ago that I was paying £1.50 a litre for super in Germany.

These were all pump prices, and not artificially reduced with vouchers.

My local Shell has changed it's price thrice in the last 24 hours; it was 132.9 late last night, 131.9 at 0630 today and having just nipped past it half an hour ago, it's back at 132.9.

It is a vast hoodwinking exercise in that the masses have been sold the pup of 135+ levels for a while so circa 120-130 feels like some kind of bargain when in fact, it remains a disgraceful rendition of the state as brigand.

It should be half the price it is, at most.

Maybe the Competition Commission should open up an investigation into the monopolistic provision of taxation?

I've noticed it creeping back up again, saw it back up to over 140 on the weekend, fuel companies are exploiting the fact that motorists have been beaten to submission on prices and know they can get away with murder.

Because a few pence aint anything to ride home about, it will go straight back up inside a week I'd bet. V power is down a whole penny at my local, a saving of about 50p a tank, shame that 50p can't buy much, not even a mars bar lol

It was 147p at a service station on the M4 at the weekend, luckily I didn't need any but I have not noticed any drop here in SW London. Depending which company you use it can be anything from 134p to 142p for 95ron.

Are they definitely run by BP or an independent shop selling BP branded fuel?
