Post everyone a replacement log book in red because they've managed to lose a stack of blue ones? Anyone heard any more on this? I hope someone was fired, must have cost millions to sort out!

I have no idea but highly doubt it. I haven't received any new replacements, have you?

Yes, a red one with a letter telling me to destroy the old one as a load of blank blue ones have been stolen!

It doesn't make sense for them to only send them out to some people though, unless they've also managed to lose my car details too?!?

A bunch of the old style ones got stolen - so any new V5's are now red (rather than blue).

I think you only get a new one when you need it (i.e. change of keeper etc) rather than everyone getting a new one.

I didn't need a new one and the letter said I was getting it because of the theft though.

Today I received a red one for my motorbike, with a letter saying it was because of the theft of blue ones, but I have not received any for my cars.

Oh so that's why I got a red one when I changed my number plate.

Woops! Just reminded me I need to update mine with change of address. If only I knew where it was.

Just had a red one for the TVR. The letter with it says that every car will get one but it will take them a year or so to get around to everyone.

So dont feel left out , you're just further down the list than me !

Update - mine arrived today.

Paperwork says *all* V5's are being replaced between now and November 2012.

Learn something new every day smile I wonder how much all this is costing, replacing every V5 in the country can't be cheap.

Good to know! I lost the V5 for the bike and this will save me £25!
