The front page of my local weekly paper today. Not the headline story!
FFS, this car jacking lark has seriously hit home now! That is the town I live in and I drive along Ritchie Street every
ing day!
Jumping in the car at traffic light is one thing, or when they are stopped outside their house, but to stop them in the middle of the street!
The scarey thing is, the West Kilbride Police office, is 50yrds off Ritchie Street on a side street!
Give me one good reason why I shouldn't carry a baseball bat, or a lump of wood or similar when driving around after reading that!!

Saltcoats Police are hunting two men who attacked an off duty police officer in a car-jacking-style attack in West Kilbride on Saturday night.
The 48 year-old victim was driving his silver-coloured car along Ritchie Street shortly after 9pm when he was stopped by two men obstructing the road.
The West Kilbride man was forced to get out of his vehicle in a bid to get the men to move when they seriously assulted him. He managed to get himself back into the safety of his car and the two thugs left the scene.
The victim needed to attend Crosshouse Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries and was released later.
Police say the two men, who are both described as being aged between 30 and 35 and wearing dark coloured clothing, possibly denim, may have confronted other motorists before the assult happened.
They are appealing to anyone who may have seen the attackers to come forward and contact them on.....

Sounds more likly that these 2 thugs were after the Plod, more than his car! I'm sorry but there is no way that 2 guys could fail to take the car in that situation, if that's what they wanted to do! Car Jacking is a big problem, and people do contact the Feds if it happens to them. The report as posted stated that the police thought it may have happened to other people, this suggests that there had been no actual reports. I therefore think that you would be relatively safe, as long as you don't join the police force and P nasty people off! best of luck, keep your doors locked and your foot nailed to the boards!!!

He's a plodman with Saltcoats plod!) It would seem that is was just an attack, but I would not rule out 'After Plod' there has been a recent crackdown on drinking in the street (which is illegal in scotland) in WK and the local yoofs aint too impressed! yeah...quite likely in the struggle he managed to make it clear he was a cop too - which might well have put them off taking his car.
What you chaps need is a martial arts instruction licence...allows me to carry anything I like in the car as long as it is wrapped and needed for training purposes....
