Sheds in the Slow Lane

Caravanners asked to stay in lane 1

Caravaners using part of the M5 in south-west England are being asked to stick to the inside lane from Friday.  The pilot scheme aims to ease jams on a two-mile stretch of the motorway in North Somerset during the holidays.

A spokesperson from the Caravan Club was quoted as saying that the accusations against Caravanners are completely false. It is, apparently, the result of jealousy!

PMSL

The idea is a bloody good one though, keep the shedpullers in lane 1, and only let them travel outside of rush hour makes a lot of sense.

I dont get this? surely what matters here is the speed the vehicle travels at, and proper lane control. What said vehicle happens to be is surely irrelevant.

Caravans rarely hog lane 2 at 55mph, but numptys without caravans regularly hog lane 2 at 55mph, and they still can...something wrong there. Whats more, Caravanners now arent allowed to pass the f*****g numpty, I hope to see lots of undertaking caravanners to send the message home.

He's got a point. They should have as much right as anyone else to use the 2nd lane. half the time the crappy inside lane is rutted so much with tramlines, it's any wonder they don't all end up at Eddie Stobbard's main depot...

...before you ask, no. i don't like caravans, but thats not the point.

There should be a minimum BHP and torque figure for towing a caravan. No frint wheel drive cars allowed to tow anything that substantially alters the weight distribution.

They should be telling everyone to pull over as soon as they have completed the overtake , but it is a start i guess

I think if they only allowed Caravans on the roads between 2am and 6am the world would be a better place. And while we are on the subject, make it compulsary that they are painted green so as not to disfigure the beauty spot they park in.

Yes, one of my neighbours. Switched on the idiot lantern yesterday teatime and saw his stupid smug Chevy looking back at me.

Tell you what sort of bloke this guy is - he wears bow ties instead of normal ties to work. Enough said, I feel.

Oh dear; but then again, the very fact that The Groiniad newspaper sells at all in Blighty speaks volumes for the calibre of short-arsed gimp that roams all too freely o'er Albion's sweet topographical canvass.

A dickie bow for a dickie heed, non?

2 mile stretch is hardly a representative study.

Chris, just out of interest, how do you get from an obscure and dull thread about caravans from the 31st of July 2004, to today?
