ok forgive me for posting this, but on this website is a self balancing bike that really has to be seen.
I'm rubbish at links so I hope it works!

This really appealed, especially seeing it cope with crash situations.

So when you try to go round corners, the pesky thing stays upright and you fly off the road?

Gyro vehicles have been around for a while (cf. Wolseley --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrocar ), but there's a difficulty in co-ordinating the contra-gyros with the demands of the twisty road riding, althought theoretically possible.

I'm guessing you could have it either speed controlled, or connected to the clutch/neutral?

The crash bit would be more difficult, unless you could have something like an airbag sensor that knows it's all gone pear shaped and switches the motors on?

Looks really interesting though! I've nicked it to bung in Biker Banter OP, hope you don't mind!

Wow rather cool, reading up on the old 30's Gyro car was also fascinating stuff. Obviously they fixed the one direction turn problem by using twin gyros.
