So, you're saying that a stone chip repair company has made a mess of your car ?

What's the full details .... ? Bad colour match ? Other damage ? What ? C'mon ... spill the beans (but not the company name, of course !)

Yeh I'd be interested for any "pointers" as to who it can be and what they did wrong as I was considering one of the reputable companies for stone chips in the near future.

Cheers.

Well

The colour is about three shades too dark, very badly sprayed (in fact I have seen smoother oranges) and has no shine.

I have now been contacted by the franchisor and told that I have no claim against them and that the only thing I can do is let the fing Idiot who messed it up have another go at it, I mean WTF is he going to do to better this, get a crash course in spraypinting (seeing as he clearly doent have a fing clue). To top it off though, I am being told (bull**ted) that I have to wait a month before it can be attempted again. Pray tell, WTF happens when this as*wipe messes it up again? another month .......

I can see me going to a specialist spraypainter (which I thought I did) to get the bumper resprayed ...

HTF did this as*wipe get the the franchise anyway?
sub standard !!!!

1, 2, skip a few 13!!!! c

He probably went on some week long "training" course with the franchise seller, who taught him the bare basics .... trouble is, your car might have been the very first car he did out in the real world !

I've never like having to take a car back to the place the f**ked something up, for them to have another go. Seems wrong somehow. If they scr3wed it up in the first place, my confidence isn't exactly very high that, all of a sudden, they're going to turn round and do a top notch job .....

It's probably worth having a chat with the Citizens' Advice Bureau. I had a bit of a problem with a rental deposit I couldn't get back a few years ago and they were very helpful about how to take it through the small claims court.

Never came to that in the end - bloke backed down when he got the appropriately worded snotogram as suggested bt CAB.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate encounter with a bad SMART repairer. I work in this industry and I can tell you that there are a few cowboys out there. You can't just buy £10k's worth of kit, have 2 weeks training and become an expert paint sprayer. The best guys are the independants. As for the francise H.O. trying to fob you off with no liability, that's garbage. Part of the franchise agreement includes the right to trade under their name. They have a responsibility for the work of their franchisees and the last thing they need is bad mouthing in public. Go back to them and tell them that you expect them to take responsibility and appoint a fresh repairer to honour the guaranteed workmanship that they advertise. If they refuse, sue them in the small claims court. Get an Independant to report on the quality of the job and quote for the cost of putting it right. This is the sum that you should sue for. Good luck and let us know how it pans out.

Get an estimate from a 'proper' body shop to get the damage fixed. If you know a solicitor, get him to bang off a serious letter with your costs (time away from work), the costs to fix the job, price of a manicure cos you bit your nails due to the the stress, etc. Put the wind up him and see what happens.

Thanks to all for the condolences and advise.

It was agreed (advised by the francisor) that the job be redone by the same chap that did the initial abortion (I can say that I presume). So its all to take place on the 8th July, I am not in favour of this but will humour the franchisor, If the chap F***s up the job again (and judging from the last attempt he will) I will go ahead with the legal advise as suggested above.

I must admit though, this has taught me a BIG lesson, dont trust any backyard organisation with your car (especially if you love it as much as I do). This my pride and joy he is practicing on, I ask myself this..... would I let anyone practice on my wife? (who I love second best! )

The answer is obvious!

Hope this never happens to you !!!

Weell, As an Update

The chap from chips away did not arrive at my home this morning as was promised and agreed. My missus waited until 11 (He was supposed to be there at 9).

I just called the chap and asked where he was and why had he not pitched up for the mappointment, "Oh, I was there said he" . Like Fcuk he was, Anyway So I say, "when can you make it to fix my car?" he says "Stuff you, I'm not fixing it anymore, you cost me half a days work"

I've had about enough of this tw*ts cr*p. I know where he stays so I'm off to see him in a couple of minutes. I'm going to knock the sh*t out of him and then take the car to a reputable panel beater to have it fixed. In the meantime I have to be without my car ...... I'm sooo fcuking pissed off

FREAKOUT OVER!!!!
