So despite the test being introduced due to breath testers being too inaccurate for borderline amounts.... now they want to remove it again. Great, cost cutting where the price is your freedom if you happen to accidentally fool the machine with, say, strong aftershave

I suppose if they reckon the breathalyser is accurate enough you can't complain. I thought they extrapolated results of a blood or urine test though, so even if you tested slightly under the limit you could still be charged. Would think that it can't be much of a saving though, as the major cost is in detaining you, and if you have two separate tests it is easier (so cheaper) to get a conviction in court?

How about...........

Blood test is carried out as routine.

Pass = Police stand the cost.

Fail = Driver stands the cost.

Can't really be that expensive anyway.

Just a thought.
