Henley to build V-XS

3-litre GT due for launch in November

TVR dealer Henley Heritage plans to build the V-XS at its premises in Henley-on Thames. An agreement has  also been reached with project designer Simon Scleater of S-Sport which gives Henley Heritage the sole distribution rights. The cars debut is scheduled for the MPH show at Earls Court in November.

The V-XS is a small, ultra-light V6 3.0 litre GT Sports Car built by utilising an aluminium chassis and powered by a GM V6 quad-cam, 24-valve compact engine producing 300bhp.

Henly's owner, Adrian Doman, is also looking help with funding the venture. He said he "would like to speak with anyone who has a passion for the sports car industry. With a small investment, you could become the owner of a very respected and busy service and parts centre."

There's more details about the car here.

Another dodgy bitsa if you ask me.
Styling is totally stolen.

Rear lights - VX220 anyone?
Roof and rear buttresses - elise.
Vents behind front arches - rx8.

Theres such a thing as taking a good idea and making it your own, but these are lumped wholesale.

About the only thing i can see that is unusual is the complete lack of a rear window. Visibility? pah! you dont need to see whats behind you

Don't tell Ultima that this is unique - they think they've been doing it for years .

Unusual maybe, but then again, VX220's are hardly common.

Another we'll see. Unless it is substantially better than an Elise / VX220, then why bother though. It's not asthough those cars are without street cred.

Ah... oops. Shows that the only Ultima ive seen in the flesh was a spyder

So they are going for a saturated market with an unoriginal product eh. Interesting business idea.

Would some one be king enough to remind me of the experience that Henley Heritage have of building sports cars from scratch to date?

I wonder if Henley are preparing for the day that TVR junks all its dealers like Noble did...?

Hang on one cotton picking minute ... gents ... please. Give them a chance. Looks to me like they are taking a VX220, hooking out one GM motor to replace it with another one that is bigger, and bolting on a roof. Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me, if the price is reasonable. Take a great car and give it more power ... doesn't sound overly ambitious, doesn't sound like a bad idea ...

edited coz I really can't type in this sodding jumper

Ah, yes ... well having read the link, they do seem to be chopping up a perfectly good car and changing everything. That does strike me as fairly silly. I wonder if in practice they will trim their ambitions a bit and stick with more of the original car.

Lotus may soon be producing a car that will be directly competitive (& probably cheaper) - allegedly.

Having looked at the details this looks pretty similar to waht David Haughin did in the late 1980's to produce the TVR 350SX (one of which I own)It's not really a car building process, it's a dealer conversion. Interestingly David was able to finance the lot himself to demonstrate his faith in his product. It only went TU when Dave fell out with Peter Wheeler about an entirely unconnected issue and the rest, as they say, is history..

I've already had a slap on the wrist from 'PetrolTed' for posting information about a certain ex main agent tvr dealership in Henley. The quality of work, customer service, managers attitude etc. I'll be going back to them when Hell gets frozen over and not before!

What are you talking about?
The RX8 looks nothing like that and theres also hundreds of cars with vents(or replica vents) behind the front arches.

You may as well have said
It has 4 wheels - Just like the Cortina

I have been to Henley a couple of times and seen the car, it is very similer to the vauxhall but the interior is different, no carpets, cd/radio. The rear engine cover has perspex panels in it so you can see the engine, which looks great. I like the car and if the g/f wasen't pregnant I would consider taking it for a test drive.

Surely she could just sit in the dealer's while you take the test drive on your own?
