Is it just me or has anyone noticed just how similar cars are these days?

I mean the BMW Expensive 1 looks just like a 147. The "new" Astra is just like a Nissan Almera. The 307 is like the Civic.

Do they all have the same shaped rulers or all just borrow one PC?

I can't believe the BMW 1 series. It looks and is as expensive as an Evo, R32, Scooby, etc etc when you've put fancy things like wheels and doors on it. Why would anybody want to pay that for something so ??

Is it me or are there other people who just don't get it?

1 series BMW looks like the new Astra.

Had one up my @rse the other day, unsurprisingly.

Not as funny as watching a C200 compressor go right up the arse of an M3 and start flashing his lights at him, M3 couldnt pull over as middle lane was full, and he was doing 90 odd as it was, so he slowed right down to 50 and then booted it, goodbye Merc. Quite funny really.

It's horrible. Very slow, unless you rev the t*ts off it (then it's average). Drives OK though (had the 1.8 version as a hire car a few times).

Won't have it for long then. Probably not such a bad thing, I've never seen such a bland looking car

But the lemmings will pay it. If they'll pay 23k for a Mini they'll pay 20k for 116.

Pretty amazing how many they have sold and delivered so soon after launch. The things are everywhere, common as muck already.

BMW could put wheels on a dog turd, bang on about 50-50 weight distribution and RWD and charge 20k for it.

I thought the old Astra and the old BMW Compact looked the same too. 'cept the BM cost more.

I'm a BM fan. Generally. But the new 1 is a Pug ugly car. As is the new 5 series, the new 7 series, the new X3 and the new Z4. So Chris Bangle (BMW's top designer) is no friend of mine!!!

to call the 1 series an Alfa i think is a bit of a mis-guided insult!, the Alfa is quite beautiful for a small hatch. With the BM, beauty was at the bottom of the list.

it's orrible!!

I agree, but there is a certain (large) similarity between the 1-series and the 147 from some angles.

I reckon Alfa have spotted it too, hence the 147 facelift

love that pic...the sad thing is it's true, yet idiots are still going out and buying the bloody things. How much must that badge mean to some people?!

No matter just how bad the new 1series looks, at least they had the good sense to take their styling cues from a manufacturer who knows who to make good looking cars. Trust the Germans to make a b@lls up of it though!

Quite a lot it seems. They have now sold out until Spring 2005!
