Hyundai Coupe wins used car award

Hello John, got a used motor?

Hyundai’s Coupe has snatched Used Car Buyer magazine’s ‘Coupe of the Year 2005’ Award 'from under the noses of key competitors the Toyota Celica and Audi TT' -- says Hyundai.

Used Car Buyer's panel of motoring writers and industry experts recently voted the Hyundai Coupe Best Used Coupe at its awards ceremony.

The magazine stated: "The Hyundai took the annual honours beating close rivals Audi TT and Toyota Celica. The Hyundai V6 Coupe was marked highest for fitness for purpose, value for money, running costs, reliability, residual value and image."

Guy Baker, Used Car Buyer’s Features Editor, said: "The Hyundai Coupe 2.7 V6 is a gem, a fantastic looking coupe with build quality to match. The handling and ride too are first class, giving heavyweight contenders Toyota Celica and Ford Puma a real run for their money.

"As their appeal has grown, residual values have held up well plus, with the balance of a five-year warranty remaining, buyers can enjoy a combination of value-for-money and peace-of-mind that Audi TT owners could only dream of. The brand awareness among the public at large has yet to reach its full potential, but for those in the know this gem is worth its weight in gold."

The Hyundai Coupe has proved to be a huge hit in the UK, selling more in this country than anywhere else in Europe. In recent months it has started to outsell the Celica and TT.

The Coupe, in common with the rest of the Hyundai range, comes with the company’s pioneering five year, unlimited mileage, fully transferable warranty as standard.

This car was the biggest pile of w4nk I have ever had the displeasure of owning. Things were forever going wrong with it - mainly electrical. Having a massive warranty is OK, but it does mean you have to keep popping into the dealership. I would rather they made it more reliable in the first place and gave me less warranty. I think it is cheaper for them to cut costs during design, testing and manufacture and give a long warranty for gremlins which most owners may just put up with.

Also, it handled like a big wibbly wobbly thing with masses of understear and really vague steering.

I sold mine after 7 months.
