The pikey gets to sue the farmer who shot him!
Discussion
What in hells bells is going on in this country?
Tony Martin, the farmer who shot the pikey is going to be sued by the pikey who survived! He's even going to get £5,000 legal aid and he could end up fleecing Tony Martin for up to £50,000 according to Anglia News!
This country used to have a reputation for a fair criminal justice system, but it's become so warped by civil rights legislation that we are now in a situation where the true victim gets shafted twice!
Jas.

I think all the morons that come up with these legislations should be made to answer for them as they are obviously criminals themselves to come up with such crap tony martin shoul;d be set free with a browning semi and enough cartriges to sort the bloody pikey out !

John L - watch the film 'Snatch' and you'll understand. But back to the point under consideration:
of course it stinks to high heaven but see here - most of the politicians in power in Europe today are a bunch of angst-ridden ex-hippies from the '60s. Now in power, they seek to unburden themselves of their selfishly introspective, bourgeois, middle class dope filled youth by apologizing for everything the western world ever did and in our case, what Britain has done in a thousand years of existence. Slavery, that was just us you know! But woah a minute, anyone recall Egypt at the time of the Pharoes and contemporary Ethiopian Kings? I seems to recall these great civilasations were bloody well built, quite literally, on slavery. Like The Pistols said, 'No One Is Innocent' so why the f**k don't we just acknowledge the good we've done and be damn proud of it too like every other sodding nation (no matter how corrupt and insignificant they may be historically)? Wait a minute, where's this going? Oh yes, poor old Mr. Martin. I know what it's about: THEY know best for US! We go out and toil and raise all the bloody cash for their liberal soirees in Islington where they can make up fresh excuses for the scumbags who screw it all up for the vast majority. I know a CID officer locally who reckons they know 80% of the local criminal element and could clear up most crime OVERNIGHT. Why does nowt happen? Because everyone's too friggin' scared to say diddly! Have you seen the audiences on Question Time for example? They NEVER seem to reflect the real views that everyone me, my friends, family, colleagues and other emembers of the public seem to know ACTUALLY think. It's a media driven conspiracy led by a bunch of champagne swilling, milk-livered socialist hypocrites with no stake in the real world. And if you think the Tony Martin case is the pits, just wait until those unelected freeloading sheisters in Brussels and Strasbourg REALLY get their teeth into us when these deadlegs in charge of Blighty at the mo surrender away what my grandfather and uncles spilt their guts for in WWI & WWII. Bloody hell I'm beyond fury over this...Tony Martin should not just be released but he should be able to turn his farm into The Alamo if he wants to. Why? Simple really. Do you believe that some scumbag should be able UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES to come into your home at night, threatening your loved ones and hard earned property because they couldn't be arsed? I'm sorry but NOTHING some card carrying commie do-gooder says is worth a light if I can't get Commander Skellern's crack 22 Commando squad flying through the windows THERE & THEN under such circumstances: if they can't do this then quite simply, bring me my broadsword. Or maybe an ED209. Phew, I feel better now.

I saw the Anglia news item on this too, and the solicitor they interviewed defended this decision pretty robustly. Most of my own dealings with the legal system here and abroad have been with patent & copyright, but the principles seem to be the same: you can end up with decisions that seem totally crazy. Having had lots of time to ponder this, I think this is because the law works by 'doing things right' not by 'doing the right thing'. You follow due process, salvishly, and where you end up is it, whether that makes sense or not. Plenty of examples of this from the US system. As I see it, the only way around it is to forget case law and precedent when preparing each case and try to 'do the right thing' instead.

ED209.

Blast from the past. Want one want one want one want one. I was 10 when I saw that film (explains the psychological problems) and I was always of the opinion that I would rather have ED209 than Robocop on my side, especially after seeing Robo get his ass kicked.IMO in only got out of that by a bit of luck. But Robo won and thats that I guess.Still prefer ED209, I can't see Robo being able to f

Childish? Me?

Yertis - thanks for the vote of conf - I though it was just me! I'll tell you why they say nothing - 'cos they're scared of the Media Inquisitors. I mean did you see that scandolous Panorama prog last night? As usual, some BBC bleedin' heart, basically feeding us the same old tripe about 'The Great Satan' America! WE ARE BEING BRAINWASHED BY A BUNCH OF COMMIE BASTARD LIBERAL PINKO TRAITORS! At the end of the day, ironically, there's nothing MORE intolerant than a modern day liberal, 'cos this shambles are just a bunch of field protesting tree buggerers - just look at the previous CVs of many pre-eminent (particularly BBC) journos - it's staggering just how many of 'em are ex-Communist party/Socialist Worker types (now slightly less vociferous 'cos of the nice 5 star holidays in Tuscany and The Seychelles [all comlimented by copious quantities of Bollinger, no doubt] - courtesy of thee and me!) Maybe we didn't win the cold war after all. What a tragic joke it is...
Totally agree with you.. as long as our media and corridors of power are occupied by limp wristed guilt riddled liberals, we're (to be blunt for a moment
) right in the shit.
Still, a Europe-wide shift to the right is in the offing and these things take time for changes to be seen. These 60s apologists can't keep control forever - I like to think that my generation will see to that. By butchering them all

In my mind its f
g outrageous.. however a serious sign of the times...
This is only one minor step away from the law that states if someone hurts themelves whilst breaking into your house, they can sue you for it.. even if you're not there.
This is where america (IMHO) have it a bit more right with their constitution, that actually grants rights to the individuals rather than leaving cases like this to be decided on by who's got the best barrister in court and who's been revising over Cavanagh QC the best...
In america, Martin could have killed the pikey and got away with it....
Cheers
Matt.

We're already there M&H. When we were broken into last year the thieves came in thru the roof and ceiling. The polizie who attended said what we should do would be put razor wire up in there, to deter them if they came back. Then he back tracked, saying "mind you if they hurt themselves, and lodged a complaint. we'd have to arrest you. We wouldn't like it, but we'd have to do it."
Great, eg?

Carzee/M&H - thankyou. It seems that my cries in the dark were not delusional meanderings after all...wonder how many REALLY feel like us across Britain and indeed Europe (as opposed to proffering indoctrinated/edited into a media friendly/PC acceptable compromise views)?
M&H points out that the tide is turning - you could be right there buddy: I was noticing socialist grumblings across Europe throughout the 80s and now look at us - only Italy have a leader with balls - Churchill must be turning in his grave. I'm all for free trade with everybody, not just Europe, I just have a slight prob with surrendering EVERYTHING I hold dear. That's all. (YOU COMMIE RETARDS!!! - The experiment FAILED remember? The USSR? DICKWEEDS!!!)

I believe if you put a sign up warning about the wire you are okay. Maybe our freindly PCs can fill us in on this area.

Marxism is a proven disaster. And Marxists know it. Elementary history is not a secret.
All of this would be of academic interest only, if the same spirit, under other names, were not so very active in America today. We see it in a variety of disguises. When Russia practiced censorship, we called it " censorship." Here, we call it political correctness. You still have to look over your shoulder before saying the wrong things. The difference is…what? In Russia, Marxists preached class warfare. Here they preach multiculturalism. The difference is…what? The Russians, unable to speak openly, passed around samizdat. We have the Internet. The difference, other than efficiency, is…what?
Our domestic Marxians are journalists, academics, racial professionals, multiculturalists, bilingualists, radical feminists, and educationists. Most of them lack the intelligence and schooling to know what they are helping to do. (I think the phrase is "useful idiots.") The leaders, as for example in the universities, do know. They are less lethal than Lenin and Trotsky, but their direction is the same.
The key to understanding them is the recognition that Marxism is not a system but a mood: a grim, implacable, vengeful hostility toward the surrounding society. Its devotees are haters. This distinguishes it sharply from normal European democratic socialism. One may debate whether, say, Sweden is too socialist or not socialist enough. Yet Swedish socialism is not evil. Marxism is.
At its heart are (1) a desire for total control of everything, including of thought (2) a willingness to compel obedience by any means whatever, (3) an unconcern with economic reality and thus with material well-being, and (4) a contempt for humanity ("the masses"). It is simply resentment politicized, aimed not at helping the downtrodden, but at hurting the uptrodden.

He successfully got the owner prosecuted for keeping dangerous dogs and got damamges for his injuries and trauma....

It's not all bad news though. Duncan Ferguson (ex-Everton hardman) was burgled last year and he got away with hospitalising both the scroates.
