I visited recently for the first time in many years, £12 entry is a rip off and if you expect the "National Motor Museum" to have a represenative display of cars from this century then forget it. Beaulieu is a joke, most exhibits are pre-war, not much '50s very little 60's and the only 70's car is in storage !! The racing collection is OK but limited. I reckon this is one of the worst car museums in the country.

So, your not a fan then! Glad you posted that, I was going to give it a go this weekend, think I might save my money now, cheers Simon.

Have to say I was a little underwhelemed when I visited early last year... Dunno what it's like now though.. nice grounds etc but otherwise not everything you'd want from a motor museum.

Nonetheless, worth a visit if you're in the area - certanily not worth going far out of your way for though..

Yes, I know its an old thread!

Just want to say that I went this sorry excuse for a museum a couple of weeks ago. All I can say is, crap!
Most of the interactive things did not work, the cars were mostly older 50's, 60's cars and the miserable staff jeez, crap expensive food, dirty toilets, expensive shop goods and worst of all a rubbish James Bond exhibition etc.

I went to Haynes museum years ago and it was superb, nice selection of cars which were all clean, friendly staff and just a better atmos.

I guess I'm more easily satisfied than you guys. I quite enjoyed my visit recently.

Having said that, I would agree that on this visit (I've been once before) a lot of the demonstrations were broken and there has been a deterioration. The huge structure reminiscent of last year's Goodwood FOS with all the cars attached to it at angles is very impressive though.

I went last saturday (on my way back from Bournemouth stag do).

I was very dissappointed. I went to see the LSR cars (something of a secret passion of mine), but I have not been there before.

The museum is tiny, and full of very old cars. The Donnington collection is better for racing cars (as is the Le Mans meseum).

Ok so they had a Bentley 4.5 supercharged, a GT40 and a Jaguar D-type. But if I go to a Historic race meeting I can see lots of these -racing. I know which i prefer.

It was only £7, and they had a boat exhibition on at the same time (and a James Bond boat exhibition).

Like I said, good to see the LSR cars, but thats about it.

I've never been to Beauliea, but from what people are saying I won't bother. I've been to the Le Mans museum (superb) and the Donington Collection is abslutely brilliant. Well worth a visit, full of some stunning cars.
