I have just watched "So you think you'r a good driver?" on BBC1. Apart from the presenter using the train to travel everywhere (subliminal message prehaps???) They had that awful woman Maureen on there, showing someone how to drive!!

It was meant to be funny, But I didnt find it funny.

This woman is a danger. In my opinion, she should never have been given a licence. We have all seen her driving before, but tonight she waited at a green light, then pulled away after it had turned to red. Result: A Mondeo had to brake hard (and locked up) trying to avoid her.

I really hope I never come accross her when I am driving. She scares the s*** out of me.

If your out there, reading this then please, PLEASE stop driving. You are a menace. Driving is a serious issue, bad driving especially so.

Rant over. Its friday. I'm going down the pub

100% total absolute agreement. Said it before, and will say it again. This woman has time and again proved she is totally incapable of driving. People like her, who repeatedly demonstrate zero aptitude for driving, should not get another chance to take the test. How may goes did she have? 40-odd? Blimey.

I think there ought to be a three strikes, you're out. Some leaway could be given on appeal, but generally if someone tries three times to pass the test and fails thats it. There is the argument that some people do not perform well under test conditions - shame. They probably won't perform well under other stressful driving conditions either. Appeal on medical grounds, sort it out, pass the test. Three marginal fail? Keep the fail certificate, appeal on grounds of marginal fails, then pass.

The test isn't difficult fer crissakes!

Drivers like this are much more dangerous than speeding, and there are quite a few out there.

Trouble is that she is not in any way unique.

It really is so scary that people like this are allowed to drive. I mean you could teach a monkey the highway code but it doesn't mean he understands it.
If I were to walk through the town centre with a loaded shotgun, laughing and joking, the general public would be scared sh1tless, and there would be a national outcry. Yet this woman Maureen, who is supposed to be in charge of an equally deadly piece of machinery, and obviously hasn't got a clue, is shown on TV by the BBC in the name of light entertainment!

Just imagine the evidence against her if you happend to be involved in an accident with her. All the video evidence in particular.

The case would be open and shut.

Indeed! Isn't it ironic that this demented hag has achieved a sort of cult poularity at the hands of the media, when her only claim to fame is that she's quite possibly going to cause some serious grief on the roads and all on a programme that claims to champion good driving and demonize carte blanche, all and any who speed howsoever?
What next, will Esther Rantzen spring Ms Hindley for a bit of advise on how not to care for errant kiddies?
I know, slight overreaction but it does seem like incredible double standards, non?

Not double standards, if you truly believe that speed, and only speed, kills! Thats the message put across by this programme; speed kills, but being a complete fcukwit is no worse than amusing.

There really ought to be some serious complaints made, and the makers of the programme forced to explain to the public why this woman is a menace.

OK Phil but I don't see how the program makers can justify the 'amusing but harmless' tag when surely clowns like this woman are inevitably going to be mowing down pedestrians at merely urban speeds? She will still kill at 30 in a 40 zone when she takes out the lollipop lady and a brace of under fives and all because she's a dumb f**k who should be sectioned!
GGRRrrr!

There are some people in life for whom certain tasks are impossible, for instance I tried to get in the RAF as Tornado pilot but failed at the selection process. I knew I was never going to be able to get through selection after the first attempt, so I stopped kidding myself and didn't attempt it again. Why do some of these people who drive cars persist when they know they don't have a clue?
My mother in law is another Maureen when it comes to driving. The scary thing is, she and the rest of the family know it and find it hilarious that she continues to drive FFS!!! If she kills someone one day, (heaven forbid) I wonder if the family will still find it funny?

Exactly! There is a perception that driving is a god given right for all, when it should be no such thing! I'll never be able to play the guitar, I know that, and no amount of practice would make a difference. For many people (scarily many more than you'd want) its the same with driving, at best they will never be more than adequate drivers, at worst you get Maureen.

Hence the f***g stupid speed limits.

Make the entry level higher to eliminate the most incompetant. Increase the limits for thos left. Test regularly to weed out the onset of numptydom. Less traffic, less pollution, more use of public transport, less accidents, more fun for those who want it. Nirvana. And about as attainable.

Apart from Maureen having the most ugly face I've ever seen (one good reason not to show her on the tv), she is not just a bad driver... she's positively dangerous.

[rant]

Why aren't CPS prosecuting her for dangerous/undue ? there is evidence on video now.

Oh, forgot.. Police are only interested in speeding these days. How can I have been given shit for 11 months over a 10mph discrepancy, yet this Moron can be seen running reds on prime time tv ?? c'mon law boys, fill out a ticket and send it it to the ugly fat cow. Please let me see some justice.

And what pratt passed her for the test? hope s/he feels bad about it forever more.

[/rant]

Have a nice week, I'm off on hols for a few days.

I'd imagine the BBC bunged the tester a few quid, or put some other pressure on him/her - can't see how she could realistically have passed.

Given that there is video evidence, is it possible for one of us to force the police to issue her with a ticket/ban her for life, by making a formal complaint??

40 odd attempts.

In Germany you get three straight attempts & then have to take a medical before your 4th attempt.

& then that's it - your fcuked. No more attempts.

Sounds fine with me.
