One of my little gripes is lack of disciplin on roundabouts, particuarily the complete lack of indicating where the driver intends to go.
I visit my local ASDA almost daily, and on leaving the shopping car park I am confronted with a roundabout. Naturally I am looking to my right to see which way cars intend to go, either into the car park I am coming out of, or to pass that exit, and drive into the DIY store next exit past me.
The majority of cars coming up to the roundabout, and intending to turn into the car park DO NOT INDICATE their intentions, had they done so, I could have been away instead of waiting in anticiption of them driving past my exit.
And have you noticed the amount of new cars that appear to have no indicators at all!. Wakey wakey drivers, cars have indicators so that other road users are aware of your intentions, please use them, thank you.

Aw man!
I could not agree more! I F***ing hate the lack of indication.
One of my best friends (who has a rather tasty lotus elan mk1) claims that other road users should be able to tell where he's going by his "angle of entry into the roundabout"...
I've taken to punching hime verytime we meet in the hope of knocking some sense into him eventually...

There is a mini-roundabout very near us, often drivers turning left dont signal left and on a mini-roundabout you really do have to wait to see, as you are so close to the other cars.
But, in the summer, the cars that turn left without signalling will often have their window down, and as they come past I scream at the top of my lungs...
INDICATORS!!!
It can often produce an amusing level of shock

I'me glad its not just me then, nice to know others have the same problems. Driving through Aberdeen once, I was on the white line at a traffic controlled box junction, my intention was to drive straight over.
Across at the other lights was a car coming in the opposite direction with his right hand indicator flashing (YESSSSSSS he indicated), however when the lights changed I proceed to drive over the junction, only to have to brake suddenly when the other car cut across my bows.
I screemed out, "What you up to mate", he replied "Turning right", so I explained in no uncertain terms that as I was oncoming traffic I had the right of way, he then politely informed me that in fact he had the right of way.
I asked him to explain that, he said "I got on the box first".................words fail me sometimes. Safe driving you guys.

I voiced my opinion on this in another thread the other day. My wish is for it to become the next target of the driving lobbies. Start fining and giving points to people for failing to indicate. That should get them working again.
You have to use them in your test to pass, and some people keep that habit as a courtesy to other road users. Do other drivers just stop using them as soon as they pass their test?!
It must cause quite a few accidents (for instance, on a dual c/way, if some people thought about using them to change lanes, they might also think to look first!!). I think in a lot of cases is is just a lack of planning/anticipation by the driver, and they end up moving before they have thought about anything.

Well don't hit him too hard just yet, as there might be some merit in what he's saying.
I recall a driving expert from way back who offered the opinion that if a car is really well driven you can tell what it is going to do by watching the speed, speed changes and positioning etc. Obviously there are limits to this, and the proper use of signals is highly desirable, but not always essential.
If you hang back a little more and just watch the body language of other vehicles you may find some of your problems disappear. HTH.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

rude girl said:You can say that again, we have two mini roundabouts very near us and when you are already on the roundabout turning right folks still come steaming onto it from the left and cut right across your path. Some idiot even put a sheet of laminated A4 up on a lampost saying give way to traffic from the left
It amazes me how many people don't think they have to give way to the right on mini roundabouts.

i find the most annoying part of approaching a roundabout is when a car is travelling straight over a roundabout and indicates right as if itz going around the round about when it actually travels straight on. causing me to stop when i could of carried on. i know i shouldnt get so worked up having to stop haha but it is annoyin when it happens everyday!!!
