It's not a totally forlorn hope. The board got a roasting from the shareholders last month concerning, amongst other things, MB's reputation. It's finally sunk in that the public have got wise that MB no longer produce the worlds longest lasting cars. Profits have been effected, so it hit them where it really hurts, so they've realised they need to take major steps to reverse the rot.

Of course next they need to sort out the attidude of the dealers.

It might be safe soon to think about replacing my 210,000 mile W202.

Yes as I'm putting so many miles on I'd like to let it retire gracefully. But anything newer, although better handling and prettier, just isn't as solid.
