Mitsubishi shows its Golf-basher
Concept due to show at Frankfurt next month
Following on from sketches released on 8 July, Mitsubishi Motors has released the first image of its latest concept car, the Concept-Sportback.
It's due to make its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, and gives the first indications of the company's vision for its next generation of C-segment cars -- that's Astras and Golfs to you and me. According to Mitsubishi, the new Lancer, of which this is essentially a preview, is based on a new platform that will be the underpinnings of a raft of models over the next few years.
This image, a computer-generated teaser, shows the aggressive face of the new Lancer. It'll also be the first public appearance of the company's design thinking since its divorce from DaimlerChrysler, with which it was allied.
Discussion
. . . Well . . .
. . .when will Mitsu do the Eclipse?
Or that luvly Tarmac Spyder . . .
This new Lancer is a bit bold, why that huge grille? Last year all new cars had that hideous horizontal chrome strip on the back and now all those big hungry mouths . . . not for me.

Well, the Eclipse has just gone on sale in the US, and looks pretty much like the Concept-E with smaller wheels and less fancyness, and the Tarmac Spyder is seen in the new Colt CC.
Obviously neither are that OTT in production spec, but that can be happily remedied i'm sure, by your local car-chavving store....

You know, just coming back again to look at it I think it's bloody lovely! Proportions all look right, very agressive, curves in the right place, big wheels filling the arches.
The Evo and Scooby now just look wrong to me, like old looking cars with a couple of over the top features, but mostly just looking like a family car. This one is more focused on what it should be.
Oh yes, I'm tired in case that made no sense.

I think it looks bloody nice. I hope mitsubishi Australia have used that sort of design language with their magna replacement ( called 380 ) rather than basing it on the US-galant, which I think looks like a wheeled poo. If the new lancer looks like that, cor, I'd be a fan.
I think we all know the monkeys at mitsubishi will choose the crap design for the new magalant

Yeah ...looks good,as do many "concept" cars. But does anyone actually think it will look like that once they get round to the approvals/regulations?
I mean, look at the bonnet leading edge..you'll slice a pedestrian in 2 !...no way it will look that aggressive when its built .
I think that the safety concerns will be overlooked for the sheer awesomeness of having a car that can slice people in half. Well, they would in my world anyway...
