Just received an e-mail from the ACO which is opposed to proposed new speed limits of 115KPH on the Autoroute network. As a keen driver who has given up on English roads with their overkill of speed cameras and the congestion of most of the country this fills me with massive disappointment. It is great to drive at 140KPH on the way to Le Mans a 24 Heures every year without having to behave like a politically correct imbecile that we are reduced to as motorists in the UK. France has a fantastic road network and this will take away one of life's few remaining pleasures. This is too much ? What can Pistonheaders do to support our French motoring buddies ? At least they don't have road taxes and the Huge fuel costs that we have here to contend with. My TVR will be outlawed soon if these European bureaucrats have their way

Proposed isn't the same as "going to happen".

Sounds like some French green politician trying it on, while the price of oil is high.

IMHO, it's not going to happen.

The marginal cost of the petrol saved is much much less than the cost of the time saved.

I hope that this doesn't happen, the peage routes were almost empty and great fun at 140 plus with nothing in the way to stop you
