I think it's revolting, and I hope it bankrupts Renault.

I'm with Tuscan S. I would also add that I actually like the Z4 too. "Bold" and "innovative" may be overused words, but they seem appropriate here. "Challenging" is also a fair observation, I admit.

Yes, I do wear glasses, but I am not writing this from a cell in a lunatic asylum - I also do not like the Cayenne!

The only decent car ever to win CotY was the Porsche 928 back in 1975. I don't have a problem with the Renault Avantime and Vel Satis, but the style doesn't sit as well with the Megane. I hope to god they don't give the Clio the same treatment.

Why are the winners of COTY seldom the same cars that win group tests?

I thought many of the judges are motoring journalists....so in this case I'm surprised the Honda Jazz didn't win.

Then again, my COTY would be the Pagani Zonda S ;-)

I'm trying to do this a bit Robert Farago style... The Megane looks good and sort of new without doubt. But it's not the French Revolution (ha ha... 1789 was the year). Yet stylish, it reminds me a bit of the Ford Focus (two... no, three years ago) with an overstreched back. Still, well done Renault for the style award but I still favour the Ford... Colin and I know why...

Are they only up to 2003?

"...and the car of the year 2010 is... ...something ugly and French!"

If it's on sale now it won't be new in 2003 and shouldn't be in the competition, surely?

It's a bit like asking that Tiff Needell if he likes BMWs...

The back windows have some lines to 'em, and the bulky glued on bit looks like a stupid bulky glued on bit. Clumsy.

it's got to be a PC thing, give the award to a car that tries hardest not to look like a car.....the Multipla won it before, mind you Q Wilson admitted that was thanks to a Fiat backhander I think

Yes, Quentin Wilson told my brother that Fiat basically paid a load of cash for their monstrosity as car of the year...

It's a good job the ex-Drivel team aren't CotY judges as the BMW 3-series would win every year. Then again, at least it's a driver's car, unlike the Fiat Multiblob.

Yes, the gauls certainly style with the design squad from 'Toys R Us' but I actually saw one recently in this very hue and wasn't too inclined to vomit.

The interior is, like a colleague's missus's Multipla, erm, 'interesting.'

I think the best that can be said is that they are probably eminently practical and no doubt blessed with the same turn of speed that sees Twingos navigate scarcely credible Alpine passes at three figure speeds, whilst you in your performance car are trundling in their wake, gawping in disbelief...

Did you know, for example, that the venerable Citroen BX TDi, actually outruns the latest diesel creation by AMG for Mercedes? Shockingly true.

Never underestimate the cockerel...Sqwuark!!!

The bit in front of the door-line looks like most other cars on the road, the bit behind the door-line looks like the ar*e end of a mini...but more angular.
So all manufacturers will be taking the hint and producing awful-looking cars...getting the COTY acolade...and we'll all go buy them, lemming-like....I don't think so.
