Trident Rebrands
Trident rebrands as Broadley Cars
Discussion
Hmmm. What would you rather say you own, a Trident Iceni or a Broadly one-thirty-seven? Sounds like a Kit Car modelled on something from the 1920s. I know this sounds shallow but it's put me off straight away, which is a shame because having seen/heard one on the M25 and spoke to the owner I really like it.

Moving to the name of the person responsible for the car to me is a sensible move. Trident means far too much like old Masers with their trident logo which evokes unreliability, under performance and generally a "dog". Moving to make the car linked to the guy that designed it doesn't seem too bad to me.
But then I suppose one of the nice things about my Noble is that when people as "what's that" you tell them it's designed by Lee Noble and they go "ahhhhh"

Hmm changing names. Rebranding a risky exercise? Tell that to Norwich Union who changed to CGNU after the umpteenth merger and then for no credible reason 1 year later spent a million on just coming up with the name 'Aviva', the same name as a small lady's dress shop in Norwich high street.
OK there was a reason, global branding. The fact that it sounds like a shite car, and rings bells of the fictional 'Crappee' of Ben Elton's book 'Gridlock' book.

Is that because;
a) they KNOW who Lee Noble is and what he's done?
b) because they want to look impressed
c) they're humouring you?
