A French company doesn't care about British jobs.

That's the beauty of the 'global economy' - except when you're on the receiving end.

BUY BRITISH !

Useful things these profiles - you can see that the above exhortation was made by someone who practices what he preaches.

Good on you Graham.

I hate Peugeot after the way they treated my father when he was a dealer, tossers!!! I do feel sorry for the guys that work at Ryton though, mind you, the headaches they caused us in build quality issues still leaves a bitter taste. I never liked the car, sold alot of them, but it just wasn't right.

Closure really is a shame especially since not many changes are needed to produce the 207.

Now, about that buying british thing... what should we go for ? MG/Rover will come back as a chinese car. Aston Martin, Land Rover and Jag are american, Bentley and Rolls are German (not to mention the price lists). that leaves us with what ? TVR is russian owned and is going to move somewhere else. Noble is British BUT all is being build in South Africa and then assembled in Leicester. Lotus is Malaysian owned (I think)

Where can I find a british manufacturer that will allow me to buy a car to transport my 2 kids, wife and luggage ?

Bottomline is : Britain has produced the best cars I can think about (TVR Cerbera, McLaren F1, Land Rover for 4x4 addicts) but this time is gone, it's a world of niche manufacturers now which is absolutely fine if you can pay the price and don't need any sort of practicality but other than that it's looking pretty grim.

Yes, I realise It's a bit late now.

Just a shame us Brits weren't more loyal in times gone by.
I know I always made an effort to support home-produced goods, even if they weren't always perfect. Patriotic I suppose.

The same people who go to the ends of the earth to support the English football team, may well be driving a Japanese car. Very strange.
