no surprises there then, thanks to the idiotic introduction of empty buslanes major cities have practically become grid locked. Cambridge used to be reasonably accessable at rush hour but now every main route into the city has traffic backed up onto the A14 and M11, this never used to happen. Business is being driven away and Investors are looking elsewhere, fcuking madness

I'm amazed that they carry on with the M4 bus lane. It's a sinful waste of space. Who goes to the airport without baggage - the drivers may be good at putting the bags on an off but you still need to get your luggage from home to the bus stop.
If you are flying on business and only have hand luggage you'll take the Heathrow express (which is excellent). Not only do the buses make poor use of the road space they run all-but empty. I've used one once and there were only six people on it. To run a great big bus for a few people is in no way 'green'. The driver told me that the day I was on wasn't unusually empty.
Taxi drivers say the bus lane is on the wrong side of the road (Heathrow to London, not London to Heathrow) because passengers are usually in a rush to catch a plane, not to get home.
It's all poorly concieved and executed.

But you can garuntee that the bus lane scheme and the congestion charging scam will be hailed as a total sucess by the government. No matter what happens or however miserably it fails.
