A pithy drollery, Squire.
Actually, it's true that people do hate Porsches (and presumably the gits comme moi) that steer 'em.
Still, I suppose one is rather reinforcing stereotypes by larking around at speed, in full Kaiser Willhelm ornamental costume {I particularly like those WWI style p1ss pot helmets with the spike on top - really does put you in the mood for a spot of extremely arrogant, objectionable annexing}.
Frankly, though, such heavy metal belligerence is not a uniquely Prussian forte; who can resist the pulverising, automotive titanic gland that is the Aston V8 Vantage V600? The veritable incarnation of the Angle-Jute-Celtic-pseudo Norse need to don aggressive garb, jump in a big invasion craft and stamp one's authority all over a neighbouring territory?
Fantastic.
It's to do with speed limits my good fellow. Clearly you haven't managed to pick up many of your available points in the last three years!!
I can assure you that if we were all in the fatherland with deristricted autobahns, you would certainly not be overtaking Messrs Rich1231, Derestrictor and myself.
dream on!!!

Ah, Daz, me old flame grilled carbuncle imapler - how's tricks in the land of extremely high pressure recycled exhaust gasdom?
Was telling the Gregster about the {relateively}scandalously low prices of 996tts at the local OPC yesterday - 75 big 'uns for a 2000 model on a 'W' with just 12k up on the odo! Not quite Daz-spec in the dilithium department but quite Dazrenic in the colour scheme departments.
Also a lip smacking couple of black GT2s which invoked no small degree of immediate car worship but at £118k I'll leave that to your good self!
Oh yes, nearly forgot, a quite stunning Turbo S which was sold, all scoopy ducts and crevices, in metallic deep purple (dandruff alert); gorgeous too.
Had an interesting dalliance with an SL55 on the way back as well;
er - not exactly slow!
And btw; you were right about silver being the best colour; I've had the beetle on the road now for just 2 days and it looks like Saddam's poured his entire (non-existant) bio-chem compound on it!
Toodle pip. Hammer down, eh?

Hi DeR.
Things are going great car wise. Ze beast has just had the treat of a powerwash, tyre pressure check and optimax top up down at the shell petrol station this morning, in preparation for the PH meet at VW tomorrow (I know it's not going to be clean by the time I get to VW but at least I've made the effort).
Also on the car front I am looking forward to a visit to Bruntingthorpe with amongst others a number of esteemed PHers:
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=26295&f=48&h=0
I don't suppose you'd care to join us in the leicestershire countryside for this rubber shredding optimax frenzy? Not even just for a few passenger rides? (I understand from Domster you're a 24/7 workaholic, take a day off, imagaine how much less money Gordon Brown will get by you not working on saturday 15th feb(take sunday off as well, spend it with your family)).
On the SL front I've driven my mothers 500 a few times in the last month, great car but it'll never be a porsche in the same way as a SL55 never will be either, it's not just the grunt it's the whole handling balance thing.
The residuals is something I try to ignore as I bought the car as a one off, to keep for a long time. On the plus side, low residuals may help lower insurance? I've also decided there is no point in keeping mileage off long term cars. Eg my mothers old SL, 12 years old, at trade in time with 32k miles on the clock it was only worth £5k more than one with 82k miles. Accordingly I'm jumping for joy that the Nurburgring management have just released this years opening times for 2003, I think at least 2 very long weekends are on the cards, roll on the month of May
.
cheers

Would love to do a Bunters sesh at some point but won't make the ent you guys are on - it sounds like just my cuppa though - pure, unadulterated blitzen burger; I trust you'll keep the Porker end up against all those GTR Johnnies?
PLEASE get some shots a la Clarkson/Cerby shoot out; I think the Ultimas will carry the day but other than that, Stuttgart's glory will remain relatively intact.
You'll be pleased to learn I'm carrying out my own Bruntingstyle research on a fairly regular basis now that Wolvenspurter's back in rude health and really caning the anvil; it's like I've said, these cars just get better and better and also like you've just commented, you CAN loose so much cash on 'em (espesh via daft mods) that you really have to be, erm,
committed
I'd love to do a photo shoot of the two b@stards, side by side, ready for the blitzkreig!
Enjoy VW and convey my best wishes to the fortunate hoardes - I bet it's an awesome convoy of mechanised testosterone - again, I relish the prospect of studying the combatants via pictorial representation.
Take it easy and have a cracking time, as if you will and as if I needed to mention it!
I'll be skulking orf to Chester with the paraphenallia of marital sprogdom on Sunday (day off, thank Christ) but such hardware movement invariably necessitates the employ of several litres of Nagasaki's clattery turbocharged 4x4 nastiness instead of our preferred Teutonic conveyance. Bugger.
I shall of course, be thinking of you...sods!
P.S. If Monsieur le Joust is there, can you assess the crack viz a vis the M12 GTO? {They look
