Don't forget the new series begins tonight 8pm on C5! Looks like they've got a new location for the studio and Tim Lovejoy's presenting for them...

"Fifth Gear's back! And there's been a few changes since we were last on air. New presenters, a new home, new features, more facts, more thrills.

Joining Tiff Needell, Jason Plato, Tom Ford and Vicki Butler-Henderson will be Tim Lovejoy.

We've also got a new base - The Ace Café, which you can find out about here.

There's lots to look forward to - we were the only car show allowed behind the scenes of the car stunts in the forthcoming Bond movie, Casino Royale; we've been teaching England's top cricketers Freddie Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen how to race; and we've got plans for our most spectacular car crash ever.

Remember, Fifth Gear is a multi-media experience - for your facts and figures you'll never beat this website. To see the world's greatest cars driven spectacularly, with a few laughs thrown in for free, make sure you watch the programme."

I think you'll find "it's no Top Gear, is it?" means....

It is an inferior product to Top Gear!

Gee, thanks for clearing that up clownfish - I honestly had no idea!

Seriously guys, we know some of you don't like it but there are some of us that do. Why don't you just let the rest of us enjoy it without bitter comments.

There's been enough bad news this week with the Hamster accident and threat to Top Gear, why can't we just be grateful that they haven't cancelled all the motoring programmes on TV. As much as you may dislike the presenters/ ideas or whatever, at least we get a chance to see some cool cars and a few good crash tests.

Hopefully TOp Gear will be back soon, but lets "make do" with this while we wait hey?

Maybe less of your sarcastic comments may help.

clap I totally, 100% agree.

However, I still think that Fifth Gear is inferior.

Inferior or otherwise is a bit subjective isn't it?
There's always the remote if you find it that contemptible.

I for one will be watching as I like to see car programmes on telly.
Can't see the point in this moan, moan, moan all the time...

The new format seems very disjointed . I don't think VBH was too successful as main link person. Who was the other guy was he the owner of Ace cafe as he didn't shine too well as a presenter. At least Plato had a racing pedigree.
At least they wished Hamster well at the end.
Your thoughts fellow PHers please

Fairly well covered by this:
www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=141&t=310544&p=4

and the earlier post foretelling it would be crap. If this was the US, I suspect this would be pulled immediately. Dire.

I watch with dis-belief. Who was the bloke presenter? The previous
format worked well for them. This one sucks. I can only assume they
tried to top gear it and lost there way.

Please try harder. Plato was smug but at least he had charisma.
