This lot really are barmy, aren't they?

They really can fcuk off.

Its not about road safety. T2000 are simply anti-car.

You want to find out about road safety read what ROSPA and the IAM are trying to do about it...

a government more concerned about keeping the road lobby happy than on preventing the 3500 deaths that occur on our roads each year

I think he means "a government more concerned about raking in tax revenue than on preventing the 3000-odd deaths that occur on our roads each year which have sod all to do with speeding".

The whole issue goes to show what a shambles the governments policy on roads and speed limits is.

Police constable Tony Richardson said: "People actually do see the cameras from a distance and obviously aren't aware that they're not working - and they slow down accordingly."

"Unfortunately, it takes cameras to slow people down in the first place.

"We really ought to get drivers to slow down for problems in the road, junctions, other vehicles, etc. without cameras being there."

if you click on the link at the side "'undercover' cameras do work" you get this!! the exact counter argument to transport 2000, by a police man!! T2k =Tw#Ts

Oh I think I can understand where you're coming from here. I emailed them, and the ignorant cretins can't be bothered to reply. Ted knows what I sent 'cos I BCC'd him in on it. They are fools on a mission, and I have no illusions what they intend.

We are all doomed to a life of mediocrity - and that is terrifying.

A colleague of mine said "speed while you can, because one day you won't be able to". Well, that day is approaching, and we will all be bound by the same stupid laws.

Luckily there are no laws yet on 0-30 & 0-60 times, so there are always opportunities to floor it - provided you are not trapped behind a numpty that slavishly obeys every sign they see.

I am depressed with it all, and will soon purchase a fake plate, and/or some more technology to beat the b**tards.

Keep it shiney side up folks! remember, private transport is NOT FOR FUN !!!!!!!!

regards, Carl

They appear to have caused a rethink on the yellow camera policy

there may now by trials to look at the grey versions for "effectiveness"

How much of our taxes have they spent changing them all yellow? And now they're going to spend more to revert back to what they were?... If it was run as a business they'd have gone the way of TWR a long time ago.

Unbeleivable.

So if you can't see the cameras, you suddenly are overcome with a desire to drive within some artificially restricted speed limit imposed for revenue purposes - and hence drive safely of course.

If you CAN see them, as soon as you pass you floor it and drive like a lunatic.

FFS.

The yellow cameras are noticeable, and yes sometimes on seeing them I have checked my speed and slowed. On the offchance that there will be a genuine hazard (it does happen sometimes) I will not tear away after passing the cameras.

Many are still "stealth" anyway - try the A666 into Bolton, at least two hidden behind road signs - but if they all go back into stealth mode then I will be forced to seek an alternative means of being alerted to potential road hazards, of the GPS variety.

they p### me off as well, one solution if they are going to paint them grey again why not tip a tin of yellow paint over the road 100 yards before them as a DIY warning system by the locals who hate them as much as we do. paint fell off the van one night!

Yeah, bus companies and cycling pressure groups.

Its high time that the car industry and oil companies fought for our rights. It is us after all who keep them in business.

Unfortunately I purchased Michael Palin's book "Sahara" before I discovered he was president of Transport 2000.

Can anybody suggest a suitably ironic use for this hardback book that I now wish I hadn't spent my hard-earned on?

Ok call me stoopid but getbthis from the T2K site

"The total fines for speeding for the year 2000 were therefore about £62.8 million. For comparison, the receipts of the Inland Revenue for the 1999-2000 tax year amounted to £148,860 million.Clearly, fines for speeding are insignificant in comparison with general taxation".

Ok so they shoot themselves down with there own statements - I for one do not consider well over a third and nearly 50% to be insignificant - TWATS - go plat muesli
