Not with you on this - where did you get the impression that Ascari are out of business?
Generally, when a company like such goes, news spreads like wildfire and the site gets removed.
Everything at Ascari.net seems fine

Ascari are not out of business, although they are undergoing a few changes.

The point I was making was that they are focussing on racing now rather than road cars......I don't see how they can do one without the other!

The owner is a wealthy individual with a private race track/resort costing £100K per annum to be a member of - I'd say he shouldn't find it too difficult to go racing with sponsors paying the way, if he culls the road car program.
Maybe he's realised 1 sale for all his (and everyone else's) effort means he has to go racing to build his brand up in an attempt to kick-start the sales.
Pity though as it's a beautiful car - but the fact the cost spiralled from £100K to £235K between concept/prototyping and finished article meant he lost a lot of serious enquiries.

pkskel - your missing the point - what's being said is that if Ascari want to race in GT3 they must be a manufacturer of road cars - this is in much more detail under the Mosler titled thread under GT Racing. Not good news losing another British manufacturer -I thought they were doing okay. Not sure the KZ1 was ever £100k!

Oops! Yes, thanks for pointing out the GT3 homologation bit - forgot that part.
When the KZ1 was first conceived and artist renderings being sent out upon enquiry, the asking price was £100-120K, IIRC.
It's final price doubled, and I always thought it more than double, hence thinking £100K was the number - 360 territory.

I saw the prototypes testing in Wales a couple of years ago, thought the car looked really good. Shame it's not been successful - went well on Top Gear too - I would have thought that would have helped.
