No Nonsense Saloon

Chrysler opt for muscular three box design for their new car

The new shape of Chrysler is to be unveiled today in New York with the worldwide debut of the 300C concept vehicle.

The brutish looking saloon features an entirely new shape based on Chrysler’s all-new rear-drive architecture and shares a family look with the Crossfire coupe recently released in Europe.

This Chrysler 300C is going back to a basic three box design. Its striking looks are partly down to the 20 inch wheels, but the crude shape is sure to appeal to those that don't like the namby pamby curvy nonsense that some manufacturers are churning out.

A production version will go on sale in the US in 2004. No decision has been made yet on whether the car will be available in right-hand drive form.

Simon Elliott, Managing Director of Chrysler and Jeep in the UK said: "300C is indeed a fantastic-looking vehicle. We have put the case forward to our colleagues in America for it to be manufactured in right-hand drive and we are optimistic that we’ll get a good response."

We hope it does make it to the UK - it looks like a proper 'blaggers' car.

That's a nice looking car. What a shame that I just bought a new one. It's one of the best looking designs Daimler-Chrysler has been coming up with in the recent years but still very american style. They should try to sell it in Europe.

Looks good, I keep thinking Audi though????????

Is it the door handles or does it have a hint of A8? (could be completely wrong though) reparedtotakeflak:

I quite like...just because it's different. It actually reminds me a bit of that black monstrosity in that '70s film The Car.

I think it looks great, but I can't see it selling well in the UK.

Sorry, have you accidentally opened a press release that's been lying around since 1978?
