RE: SEAT What?

SEAT What?

Oh.. sport. Yep, ok.

SEAT has added a new performance model to its Toledo range – the aptly named Toledo Sport.

The same 1.8 litre 180 PS 20V turbo-charged engine and 6-speed gearbox used in the Leon Cupra are used in the Toledo.  Standard gizmos include ABS (anti-lock braking), EDS (electronic differential system), TCS (traction control), ESP (electronic stability programme) and EBA (emergency brake assistance).

SEAT's enthusiasm ran out when it came to exterior styling, with the rest of the budget blown on some new office furniture, the styling team made do with 7x16" alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers and leaving early for the pub.

The new Toledo Sport is priced at £15000 on the road and is covered by a 3-year/60,000 mile mechanical warranty, a 12-year anti-perforation body warranty and a 5-year roadside assistance package through SEAT Assistance.

So they blew the whole budget on the engine instead of a body kit - well done Seat.

Not bad value for £15k either.

I've got a 3 yr old Toledo TDi (look, I do lots of miles ok !!) and in 75,000 miles the only thing that's gone wrong is the brake light switch. And it hasn't started to rattle yet either. Screwed together pretty well, for the price ....

Sounds a lot better than "all show and no go". The lesser Leon that I tried was impressive.

Fair point. I was probably a bit too flippant in my editing (always have to take a axe to the bubbling press releases that come with these announcements!).

lets hope the engine is a lot better than the V5 unit prefiously hailed as the flagship.

A lot of kit for £15K.

Ted, I'm gonna nut yer at the next PHVW for condescending editorials towards SEAT's!
