I've just heard on the news that it's expected that car tax will double to over £400 per year for the most polluting cars! That's shocking!!!!! I only do 6000 miles a year in my Boxster!

This madness has to end with these money grabbing gits!

But it also says (in the newspaper) this it is to reach this level by 2010, not immediately.

Oh well, thats all right then!
just a measly 30+% per year hike for the next three years rather than all at once. I don't know what all the fuss is about!

Hmm..

My road tax expires next month.... Is it worth changing early???? If its costing £15 per month now, is it worth renewing 2 months early? Is the new top rate going to be over £220 - if so, that might make sense.

What we need is a fair system based on miles done. A sort of road charging scheme...

Or, on a matrix based on miles covered and vehicle efficiency - how about fuel tax?

So what's the penalty for having no tax or insurance? Is it still just £120 fine?
