ruth kelly as transport secretary???????

it's not going to be pretty. Your political inclinations have probably sounded another death knell for motorists, from the woman who put paedophiles in schools and thought HIPs would be a good idea.

she has great credentials since she was a journalist at the Guardian... for crying out loud frown

she has never succeeded in any post she was given... just creates more controversy

indeed awful choice but not as bad as Alistair Darling as Chancellor!

Never been keen on mixing religion with politics, and she does just that.

Seems like the only places you will still be able to enjoy yourself on the roads will be in the third world. Having said that, most of Eastern Europe seems to be a racetrack.

So in the ten years Labour have been
in power, how many Transport Ministers
have we had ?

I've lost count.

Transport isn't very high up the Labour
priority list, it seems.

She certainly sounds like a man, if she is realy female then she probably inspired some men to become gay!

Shes got more chance of winning a beauty contest than improving our transport system.

Anyone remember the "Ten Year Plan" that was supposed to sort out Transport in this country?

Well they'be had ten ing years and now we've got Ruth Kelly.

Simply put: you cannot trust the Labour Party. Now. It can be said that you cannot trust any politician and, sadly, I'd agree. But I've had enough of this lot.

Word has it that she is Opus Dei - cilise (or chafe) and all. She tried to get Creationalism re-introduced into the National Curriculum and Big Bang evidence reduced to 'just a theory'.

She will try to get us all to have the 'Sign of the Fish (Ichthe)' displayed on our cars to show that we are good Christians, making it so much harder to spot the drivers that use the New Testament rather than the Highway Code...

A transvestite in charge of transport! What will they think of next.
I think our driving days may seriously be numbered.

It has been widely reported that one of the first things they are planning is to add VAT to the price of an MOT test fee taking it up to £60 a year. That of course is without the annual price increase, which would be on top of that.

Yet airlines are exempt from all VAT and jet fuel has no tax at all on it !

Can't see any connection between the two. If VAT goes on jet fuel, the price of air travel will go up and hit the consumer in the pocket. And UK based operators will be disadvantaged unless equivalent fuel taxes were applied across all airports internationally.

Wait a sec. If she's making stupid decisions... she might raise the motorway speed limit to 100? Have a no speed limits day once a year? Fuel tax rebate for sports car drivers? Who knows? silly

Its a question of equal tax treatment for all groups of transport users.

By all means equalise it by removing all tax from petrol and removing all VAT from vehicle purchase and servicing.

According to todays Auto Express the new transport secretary has lower speed limits as a priority.
