Bentley Used in High Stakes Robbery

Flying Spur used to blend in...

If you’re going to rob a jewellery store, you might as well do it in style – and that’s exactly what two armed robbers did.

The pair, aged between 40 and 55, arrived at the 'appointment only' Graff Diamonds store on Sloane Street in a chauffeur driven Bentley Continental Flying Spur.

Despite not having any appointment, after alighting the ‘Spur they were nevertheless waved into the store. Once inside, they drew hand guns and stole £10million worth of gems before calmly walking back to their 'getaway car' and making an escape.

Apparently the be-suited bandits had hired the car from an exclusive chauffeur service especially for the raid.

The Flying Squad said that the Bentley ‘lulled staff into a false sense of security’...

Surely the company who hired the car will have a bunch of info about them [ok I know they wouldn't of given their real names and addresses, but it's not like they had ski-masks on]. I'm sure if they found the Bentley [would have a tracker right?] it would be covered in the robbers DNA etc and the shops security cameras would of caught them walking in?

Sounds too much like hard work. Let's go and nick someone speeding.

A true gentleman would have used a proper Bentley wink I wonder if the chauffer can be done for being an accessory to the crime?

"...and stole £10million worth of gems before calmly walking back to their 'getaway car' and making an escape..." ..they then boarded a flight to spain, started family's with newly found wives, and lived happily ever after under the alias "mr and mrs a wee bit silly".

Indeed. Gentlemen theives enter through the rooflight, overcome all the security do-da, nick the gems and leave the way they came. No-one is any the wiser until morning. Guns and threats of violence are more gangster than gentleman. wink

Of course if they'd used the guns to steal the Bentley (or a Porsche Turbo http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=411... then this thread would be sounding quite different.

Suppose it depends on what you value.

There was a bank robbery here in the States where the robber's car had vanity plates that read "CATCH ME".

quite intelligent for a robber really going in a flash car to lull the shop into a false sense of security.
