RX8 - Go Mazda! Ahh, good to see they're back from the Beige old days.
But the Cooper S motor? What about the 2's MZR unit? or the Celica's 1.8? For a cheaper scale coupe, the specific power of that thing is incredible and no doubt has trademark toyota reliability.

"It's a bit like the Oscars, but more emotional and with more revealing dresses. The International Engine of the Year Awards attract people from around the world in the hope of receiving one of the coveted awards."

So lift your piston skirt hemlines and get your gudgeons out for the lads then.....

What about 'best noise' catagory? - surely nailed-on for the Alfa Romeo 3.0 V6?

Why is the RENESIS classed in the 2.5 litre to 3 litre category?

Try telling that to Autocar who, for some reason, seem to think it is one of the best engines out of half a dozen in the world.

James, your joke is boring and out of date. Ever heard a Ferrari 355 start up in the morning? They sound shit too. Just like your last post really.

Renasis is 1.3 (2x 653 cc rotors).

Cant realy be compared to a 1.3 cylinder engine though. It Breaths as a 2.6 petrol. Each rotor has 3 combustion chambers and fires once each rev instead of once /2 rev.

But then again rotors only rotate 1/3rd the shaft speed. So 2 rotor engine @ 9k rpm = 4 cylinder @ 3krpm. Mebe. I try not to think about it realy..

I'm afraid TVR was not nominated as the Awards are for mass-produced engines only. Don't be too despondent though as the Enzo unit also failed to make the cut.

As for the Renesis, it was put in the 2.5-3 litre category as it is the equivalent of a 2.6-litre when in motion and is officially classified as part of this category by some European states.
