Windows for Cars Upgrade
New version of Automotive version of Windows is released.
Discussion
Msft may be pants, but at least they have identified the need for a car oriented (tweaked) operating system. IMHO the problem with Windows CE/ pocket PC is its reliance on keyboards and a GUI that is like a mini version of full blown Windows. With tiny screens it just doesn´t work. But if they tweaked the UI stuff so you could really use it hands free or with a couple of buttons on the steering wheel, then you could really start to do some cool things. If you get a platform that lots of people can develop on cheaply (like .Net) add in GPS and some internet connectivity from your mobile phone ... position and route aware weather and traffic reports, track your delivery and sales reps cheaply finally gets a cheap and cheerful platform. Obviously one of the steering wheel buttons would have to be for rebooting.

It would put a new prespective on the term
"Crash"
Friend of mine was in a high speed crash that nearly killed him, among other things it shredded the laptop that had been in his briefcase on the passenger seat. When he rang his IT department to get a replacement they kept explaining that just because he had crashed it didn't mean he needed a new one, and what was the error message?

Cheers,
