Marque Park

Le Mans hospitality showed that Marque Park is more than just somewhere safe to leave your motor

Thanks,

but no thanks.

I can just imagine the kind of 'enthusiast' that sees a sound-proof hotel as a good thing when at Le Mans, within spitting distance of dozens of the best engines in the world.

Mikeylad,
the type of enthusiasts it attracts are those that perhaps need access to adequate sanitary facilities.

I suffer from crohns disease and therefore always need to know where toilets are. Its the only way I would be able to go to Le Mans.

rich,
you make a fair point. no offense intended.

I was referring to those who may see a trip to Le Mans as simply another date on their social calendar and a chance to compare the supercars they bought on the recommendation of their style consultants.

edited to say its interesting that you can only stay there if you have a supercar - thus excluding most enthusiasts and most people with medical requirements, if you see my point.

Some of us have grown out of thinking it's 'hard' to stay up all night and wander around with skidmarks in our shorts.

£295 for the three day pass was well worth it. I was there and it was really good - you could see all the way from Tertre Rouge from a grandstand right by the track. Ace at night. Beats the Tribunes. I'd have done the hotel thing if it hadn't sold out. Price was about 300 quid a night I think. Seriously recommended.

£295 for 3 days seems like a bargain to me! Count me in for next year.
Although if I remember correctly my Chimaera is not exclusive enough to make it on to their 'special list'

Oops. Don't know how to use this, meant to reply to .Mark. .Mark: all TVRs are Invited Models and I think all the current ones were there. A bloke from Marque Park was in a blue Cerbera. There were Cerberas, Chimaeras, T350C's, Tamoras - can't remember if I saw a Griff though. Top car IMHO was a yellow GT40 with a pair of trumpets straight off the headers. 6.8 fuel-injected litres. Looked like a real one, sounded b****y brilliant!! Loud as you like!! I liked HEARING some of the mega cars there. Spyker was just sex really - I want one!! There were a couple of old boys in a V8 Vantage that was the first production one. It had been in the GGuiness book of Records for 170mph+ or something. Sounded the bizz as well. Too many to list really! Lovely old Maserati, a 275GTB.... Let's face it, you don't see that kind of quality in the camp site do you? Car enthusiast heaven I reckon. Or maybe I'm not an enthusiast anymore cos I don't want to s**t in a hole at Le Mans?!?! Woddever... I'm saving up for the full monty there next year.

Met the guy from Marque Park on the Tunnel on the way home, indeed he was in a Blue Cerberra plastered with Marque Park stickers.

Not my cup of tea and althought the lot of us were knackered, we were equally as clean and well turned out as they were ...

So next year, I will return to the tent !!

I just spoke to Phil James who runs it. There's more merit to the idea than has been conveyed by their initial press releases. I'll probably do a small feature on them next week to fill in the gaps.

From what I read of the advert they put in Autosport, it was literally right on the Mulsanne straight, with a huge great open balcony, just up the corridor from your room. And just because you're staying there doesn't mean you have to stay in there for the entire 24 hours does it?
