They broke into the car, but didn’t take it…?

So I assume they broke into it to remove the contents…?

Cliffords have the proximity sensors you want and their blue LEDs & silver stickers will look nicer too wink

I think installation is more of a factor than the alarm itself though, pick any in a similar price range as long as you pick the right guy to fit it and you'll be ok.

Sounds like the Viper then.

Out of interest, what car is it going to be protecting?

That's right, they'll be holding out on the internet waiting for you to post, somewhere, that you haven't fixed your car yet!

EH, you have completely missed the point. If they want to nick the car they can come back and have a look, after all they know where it is. So what use is it to them looking on car forums in the hope you post OMG NOEZ TEH CAR HAS BEEN BROKED!!!11ELEVENTYONE! as they already know that, they broke into it if you're worried that A.N.Other scrote will find out your car is compromised how are they going to work it out from a post saying, "it's a black MkIV golf".

As for my VX being nicked, i'd like to see them try as i've not waited until they've tried to steal it before securing it adequatly.

Clammy is right.....
I have sold car security through my business now for over 10 years and can tell you the single most important thing you need to consider - the installer ! 3 out of 5 problems we see are down to poor installation and reliability is top of your list. If your new alarm goes off every night when the local cat runs past then you will soon be turning off via your key fob without even checking the car. We do mainly trade work for dealers now and we use Cobra, so reliable, they never come back, easy life for us and the dealers are happy.
As for Clifford - their marketing is brilliant thats for sure and i have removed many, many faulty Clifford units in my time...

Whatever you get - get it fitted properly!

Forget about an alarm system,if a thief wants your car no alarm system will deter them.
Some years ago a friends son took delivery of a brand new Jaguar with all the toys fitted and a very sofisticated alarm system.

Remarkably they removed the rear glass screen and bypassed the alarm system and the car was never recovered by the police.

The best form of deterant to any thief is the Thatcham approved disclock that totally covers your steering wheel.
In an Auto Express report it took a ex professional thief nearly five minutes to remove it causing a great deal of noise and with very heavy equipment.
It makes sense to buy one because a potential thief can steal a car from standstill with locked doors in under a minute. If the car parked next to yours doesnot have a disclock fitted then the thief would rather steal that car than attract attention in trying to break into yours.

How many times especially during the summer months have you heard a cars alarm sound with nobody giving it the slightest bit of attention.

If you own a really saught after car then maybe a thief may take the risk in trying to steal it but they donot want to attract attention, trying to remove a Disclock will certainly attract attention so no thief in their right mind would attempt to steal a car with one fitted.
A superb place to buy one is on Ebay but make sure its the right sized one for your steering wheel and they come with a niffty carrier bag and very special keys (do not loose them as they are very expensive to replace)
