Top Gears the Stig

This question may have been asked before but does anyone know who Top Gear's the Stig is ? If so will you please let us know.

Ben Collins is favourite but nobody seems to know for sure. Other suggetions include Damon Hill (most unlikly ) and Russel Swift ( I think not ) There's a You Tube clip 'Top Gear the Stig talks' and the voice is without doubt Anthony Davidson's. I suspect there is more than one Stig.

There are many Stig and the reason for the anonymity is that TG can then put any racing driver who's available into the outfit and let them drive.

It also means no one driver can hold the TG team to ransom by claiming to be THE Stig, as TG can always show off another one.

If as I'm now sure there are many Stigs it makes the TG lap times unfair.

It's Ben Collins but there were 2 stigs at the britcar...

thing is though did both stigs drive? one could of done the fannying about infront of the public and the other could of been the real driver

They both drove although the split between the 2 was around 80/20
Anyway they didn't get entered as "The Stig" they went under their proper names.

ben collins is the stig in the white overalls, perry McCarthy was the guy in the black a few of years back.
met Perry when i did a tv programme with him in 2006 for sky one, told me what he used to get up to on top gear and who the new stig is. he didnt rate him that highly put it that way lol.

Probably a million miles wide but the stance of ths "STIG" looks like Johny Mowlem to me.
