Having driven a Crown Vic many many miles all I can say is it's like driving a tennis court fitted with knackered shocks and recirculating ball steering.

I rented one for two weeks when I took the Family to Disneyland. My son correctly pointed out that when we were going around corners, it felt more like a boat than a car (he was only 6 at the time!). They are absolutely lethal cars, each time you take a corner, you're never sure where abouts you're going to end up on the road.

I bought an ex-cop Crown Victoria when I was living in Chicago... An awesome car, simply because it is so ridiculous. Somewhat boat-like handling, but the police package firmed up the suspension pretty well. The thing was huge and solid, but you have to remember that it was designed as a "luxury car" and not as a sports car. If you try driving it as a sports car you'll soon have all kinds of problems, but I found it very capable as a general purpose car.

American luxury cars should not be compared to European luxury cars... American cars are generally softly sprung, floating barges to isolate you from the road. European luxury cars tend to be much more performance oriented.

Back to the topic, I do find it ironic that you avoid a product because "if I do something stupid, I could get hurt???"
