I think this is just scare-mongering to ensure all car manufacturers try to reduce their carbon emissions.

The annoying thing always about these supposedly Green perogatives, is that the politions both here and in Brussels will continue to use their free issue armour plated limousines to commute between their subsidised apartments and government offices which may only be a couple of hundred yards. Another case of 'I'm alright Jack'.

A case of someone talking from their posterior. I laughed when I saw who had initiated the statement though. Frankly, car manufacturers claim that their vehicle does 35 miles to the gallon, but these figures are obtained under strictly controlled conditions meant to project their cars in as good a light as possible. Practically speacking, on todays roads and traffic conditions, very few cars made actually achieve this figure.

As the saying goes, there are lies, damned lies, and then there are statistics which you can make say anything you want to try and make a point.

And someone is right... Can't see the PM going to the house in a smart car, can you?

35mpg would be a start but they'll have to go much further than that. Why should we support small car companies if they don't produce the kind of cars we are going to want for the future?
