The Volvo XC90 has won the Auto Express ‘Car of the Year 2003’ award as well as ‘Best 4x4 Off-Roader’ in the magazine’s annual New Car Honours.
Announcing the XC90 as the Car of the Year 2003, Auto Express Editor, David Johns commented: "This car impressed us with its rugged build quality, driving refinement and innovative interior. Big, beautiful and packed with ideas that make motoring far more enjoyable, cars as special as this are very rare. Well done, Volvo."

These are just plain ugly , i saw my first the other day , it was coming down the road towards me and i had to squint as i thought something was wrong with my eyes it looks like a normal volvo that has been stretched to be higher ,,, err which i guess it is but it just looks so wrong
Volvo and Subaru are JV partners in a Dutch concern, not JV partners in their own model lines. Subaru is buying out the Volvo interest in this endeavor.
Since I just bought one of these yesterday, and did a lot of research on them, I can tell you the 2.5T AWD with 5-speed is a great handling car, actually quicker than the bigger motor version with 4-speed. It is a far cry from the three Porsches I maintain, however, I am comforted that the wife will soon get the IPD suspension package, lower springs and their good sway bars.
Since this is Volvo number 7 for me, I'm anticipating the same great build quality, reliability, and longevity I've received from the others. Oh yes, and great resale too.
