GT40 - Rehash or rebirth?

The most exciting news from Ford for decades or a desperate rehash of a legend?

WOW!!!! I want one!!

Let's pray they put this into production, They really have made a good job of this and been sensible enough to keep the original lines as they were already near-perfect.

Brilliant, but they should name it GT44 to match the heritage.

Wow. If Ford don't build it I could see one of the US GT40 rep. builders "borrowing" the design. I've not been too sure about all the retro designs of late (esp. the New Beetle ugh...) but this one's amazing. Anyone got a piccy of the interior please ?

go and buy a kit car if you like the looks, ford should try better than just rehashing an old design

The Gt40 was a stunning GT car, if they are serious about their brand they should release a cutting edge race car for this century and go out and race it!

I agree, looks stunning, but I feel Ford should be more adventurous with it and look to the future rather than the past.

This exercise shows a complete lack of talent, originality and drive on the part of Ford. The GT40 was built to race and to beat Ferrari, the new GT40 is built to boost image and remind people of a time when Ford could design and build something beautiful and succesful.
When I look at an unattainable supercar I want to see originality and forward thinking, not a copy of something I could get a replica of for £50 grand.

Is there any mention of a predicted cost should it go into production...?

No doubt, that is stunning...

Just as beautiful as the original, but somehow has a taste of the 21st Century too. Wonderful.

Put me on the waiting list now.

Aha!!
It's been a long time since something good had come from the US!
Let's hope it will help convince AC to build a new series of Daytona Cobras...

benno, have you seen that Ford 4 turbo thingy that was on TG last year? that should answer your needs, as for this car, how can anything this gorgeous not be a good thing and a lot of new designs borrow from the past
