Report: Mosley Barred From Bahrain

Pressure increases on FIA chief

The ruler of Bahrain has banned FIA president Max Mosley from the Kingdom’s Grand Prix this weekend, it has been reported.

According to the Times newspaper Bahrain’s Crown Prince wrote to Mosley to tell him it would be ‘inappropriate’ to be in the kingdom at this time.

Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince of Bahrain, wrote the letter after allegations about Mosley’s private life appeared in a Sunday newspaper.

Mosley, 67, is now fighting to save his career and is said to be locked in discussions with lawyers to assemble a case for invasion of privacy.

In the letter the Crown Prince allegedly wrote: ‘In the light of the allegations, I suspect you may be deliberating on your planned attendance at the Grand Prix here in Bahrain later in the week.

'I therefore felt it important to convey the position of Bahrain and its people. Clearly of paramount importance is the success of the event for all concerned – the Kingdom of Bahrain, Formula 1 and its spectators.

'The focus quite rightly should be on the race. With great regret I feel that under the current circumstances, it would be inappropriate for you to be in Bahrain at this time.’

Meanwhile it has been reported that BMW and Mercedes were putting more pressure on Mosley.

According to the BBC the German carmakers labelled allegations of bizarre sexual behaviour ‘disgraceful’.

They were understood to have been joined by Honda and Toyota in expressing disgust.

It won't save your career; but it will do some good!

A donation to CLIC Sargent, please Mosely!

"They were understood to have been joined by Honda and Toyota in expressing disgust."

What are the chances of Ferrari joining this group and expressing disgust? Nil? Less than nil? Absolutely no chance of criticism of their 'man on the inside' rule writer?

Well after years of sticking it up the Germans he wanted to feel what it was like to be in the diametrically opposed scenario.

I really do despise the news of the world. Is there a more low brow tabloid?

He does deny the allegations however, who knows.

No he doesn't, he is approaching it from the invasion of privacy point.

I spotted this at the dealers this morning when I dropped my car off. Spotted the Times and decided to have a quick scan read while I was waiting.

The loud burst of laughter when I read the article did provoke some turned heads first thing! When the chap came over to check if I was OK, we had to laugh about the whole thing....

The Times also had a copy of the letter from the King too. There is no room for misinterpretation there! In most cases the Middle Easterners keep out of these types of things (mainly because they run the risk of getting caught themselves!). But this one is just too obvious to ignore - since Bahrain is trying to portray a certain image, allowing Mosley to come and go as he pleases looks pretty bad.

As for invasion of privacy? Phah, shouldnt have played away - plonker.

Agreed. The Mail's worse because it's trying to pretend it's not a tabloid.

Probably alot of people in roles like this up to stuff like this, they just keep it under wraps better.

From MP's dying in odd sexual circumstances to celebs downloading kiddy smut. There must be plenty of wealthy figures of authority who get up to worse than this behind closed doors. The amount we see in the papers is really just the very tip of the iceberg.

Even so, I don't see how he can reasonably continue his role. Time to retire me thinks, he is 67 after all.
