Bentley Conti Speed gets 800bhp and dodgy bodykit

What would Jeeves say?

Perhaps surprisingly Japan seems to be emerging as the place to go to get your Bentley Conti tuned.

Recently we showed you the Premier4509 GT and now we present the ASI GT Speed.

This new breed of tuners seemed to have an uncanny ability of taking the subtly handsome lines of the GT, and, well, ruining them.

Bizarrely there is more than a hint of Porsche 997 Turbo about those front indicators, and the carbon bonnet seems to have been inspired by a Mitsubishi Evo.

The boot lid and rear wing are also carbon and there are a new set of 22” custom 3-piece forged alloy wheels.

ASI was established in December last year, in Nagoya, Japan, and has promised a tuning package for the Speed called ‘Tetsu’ by the end of the month, which will produce 800bhp from the 6.0 litre W12 unit. Blimey…

There are so many things that need to be said about this, but in the end the only thing i can muster is a derisory "oh dear".

This is too easy a target for snobbish derision, and I admit I was going to join in. But if we start with the premise that the 'Conti'(that sums it up really,no one has ever described an S2 Continental-for instance as a conti!) is just a VAG platform coupe, then whats not to like? When I get one I,ll have mine badged as a SEAT Eldorado or maybe a Skoda Absolutely F***ing Splendid.

What weight the tuning man taketh away with one hand, he giveth back with the other wink

Having poked and prodded around an Azure and a Continental GTC, the Azure felt a million times more special than the Continental, it was gorgeous. Sitting in and revving the Azure made me feel 12 years old biggrin

rolleyes wow they really pushed the boat out with this one didn't they? (looks like it might handle like a boat too). The amazing creativity they mustered up to come up with......wait for it.....big rims a carbon bonnet and some more unnecessary carbon bits.

Bet Tim Westwoooooood has one on order. Yeeeaahh Boyee!

Absolutely DISGUSTING, although if you forget the "styling" 800 horsepower sounds good to me-might make up for the over 2 ton weight of the regular car. I wish the article would mention the torque figure though, that's what matters in most situations--unless you live at the salt flats in Utah, you're not going to use all that top end power anyway.

Typical, the majority of these tuners are really car wreckers, that is the pits.

Oh dear.

I don't mind efforts to make the Conti look a bit more butch, I think this one's pretty good, despite being from Project Wazzock:

but that's just a mess.

Now, who'd like to build me a twin turbo Phaeton ? silly

That looks hidious, but you cant argue with 800bhp.
