Ferrari SUV On eBay

Is it a Jeep? Is it a Ferrari? No, it's a Jerrari...

So far, so good...
So far, so good...
There’s been lots of chat recently about whether Ferrari would build an SUV to take on the likes or Porsche Cayenne, but what we didn’t realise is that someone had already beaten them to it.

Possibly one of the weirdest car creations ever, this is a ‘Jerrari’ – a 1969 Jeep Wagoneer mixed with a Ferrari 365-GT.

The story goes that Enzo Ferrari refused well-known car collector Bill Harrah’s request to build him a four-wheel drive Prancing Horse.

Undeterred and possibly hoping to teach mean old Enzo a lesson, Harrah went and built his own out of a Jeep and the front-end of a smashed up Ferrari.

Apparently the car did once have a Ferrari V12 but now has to make do with a 350ci V8.

The only clue to its Jeep origins is the ‘J’ in the ‘Jerrari’ badge…and the Jeep body from A-pillar back.

Uh oh...
Uh oh...

Hang on a minute...
Hang on a minute...

Oh dear...
Oh dear...

I don't think that's the end of the world, given the time period it is from. Perhaps it's just me. I can see something interesting there. Not personal choice, but certainly not an abomination.

Nailing the front end of a sports car to the back end of an SUV ? What a silly idea.

The colour does it no favours. I think in a nice Rosso it would look better. Really no different to any shooting brake concept, just a little higher on the suspension. Not to everyone's taste, but certainly not the ugly dog it's being classed as.

For the record, I would not choose it myself, but I find myself not un-attracted to it as a piece of 60's tom-foolery. Certainly not ugly. Just a bad colour.

I have a sinking feeling that Tata may get wind of this and use the idea to combine a Jag with a Land Rover. (Tata execs are probably loving the styling...)

Ook!

If you had a billion monkeys and each was given a hammer and some scrap metal, what are the chances one of them would come up with that?

Jesus. Well it does look to have been done well, in the kind of way that makes me suspect the project was carried out by someone who's nose never moved further away then 4inches from the car; carefully smoothing pannels and all that, then steps back at the end........."bugger."

In the 50's, Enzo famously said 'you don't need aerodynamics when you've got a good engine'...
