What a waste of money,could have bought a GTD40 with a proper engine for £30,000.Guess the money went to a good cause.

Hmmm, thanks FourWheelDrift, but having second thoughts as I am over 5'10'', just maybe Mrs Crimson King might want one???

I think 5'10 is a little bit conservative. I think anyone up to 6ft can fit since the bubble topped special driven by Jeremy Clarkson is an extra 4 inches high and Clarkson is 6ft4 and he fitted, just and he's got longer legs as well.

It's a production model. 3 were produced this year to commemorate the 1-2-3 Le Mans victory (1966?)... more examples will be built too.

In fact one went up the hill at Goodwood, driven by Martin Leach.

I don't know who designed the new version, but I believe the original was british designed. I'd give most of the styling credits to the Brits.

Actually you have to give all the styling credit (and the rest of the car) to us brits. The GT40 started out as a Lola MK6, and Eric Broadley who owned Lola was tempted to Ford Advanced Vehicles in Slough. There the team developed it into the GT40 Mk1 and then Broadley left as he'd had enough of Ford bureaucracy.

A lovely car the new GT and I wouldn't mind one but for me only an original would do....

Prototype was for sale about 12 months ago... basically a Lola with a Blue Oval on it...
