I hope so. Anything that stops the criminisation of a victemless incident is good in my book.

Chase after muggers, rapists and thieves instead.

I agree with you entirely but the reality is catching real criminals, thieves, muggers and rapists doesnt make the force any money!!! Cynical I know but thats the true reason why!!

Does that mean that anyone convicted of an offence during the period for which the incorrect signs were up is entitled to have this quashed and their costs refunded? I see a class action suite coming on. Any lawyer PH'er who might want to run it?

Yet again more spin:

Mick Bennett, spokesman for the Cleveland Safety Camera Partnership, said there had been just nine collisions on that section of the A171, compared with 70 in the previous three-and-a-half years.

Nine colisions over what section? Over what time (I checked very carefully there is no mention of how long for the 9 colisions) a week?, a month? three months? a year? Also why 3.5 years seems an odd number why not previous year or previous 2 years mmmmm I smell something!
