All these new companies which offer a tracking service for mobile phones to locate children, employees or partners etc, offer rates of between about £1.50 to £5 a month. Perhaps i'll leave a charged phone somewhere in my boot and use it to track if the car gets nicked.Any thoughts?

You could also try ringing the tow rags up and ask where they are and they might tell you as most arent very bright!!

If you have a GPS enabled Nokia, and place it in view of the sky (under the parcel shelf (if it's plastic), and make sure you have "Sports Tracker" installed and running, it'll track with GPS accuracy. You can set how often it reports it's position, based on time and/or movement. Then look at it on the Nokia Sports Tracker website.

There are plenty of thing around like the "phoneM8" which reports it's position by SMS. It's cheap compared to some of the subscription trackers.

What if someone nicks your car and finds it? Chuck it out of window - job done!
Good idea tho, had to conceal it and (remember to) keep it charged...
