Do video games mimic life?

I think I know what they mean. Only the other day I was walking down the street when this big alien landed next to me, so I whipped out my particle accelerator rifle and disintegrated it. I mean, you have video games with big aliens in them and you're just asking for them to arrive on earth unannounced. Basrds

American Lawyers - Nothing a good stab in the ear with a pencil wouldn't cure.

Does life mimic games?

It certainly does, just the other day i was chased down the road by a big yellow object eating everyone in sight, except for their eyes though.

Take 2 has an 18 restriction on this game. So Take 2 will turn around and say to the family that she its not their fault that the kids are playing the game. The kids parents shouldn't of bought or allowed the kids to buy the game as they are under age and think!
If anyone is to be sued its the kids parents.
Dumb a$$

Right i'm off to go shoot David Blaine and nick a car. Cause i can do it in a game.

Q. What do you call 100 lawyers at the bottom of the sea?

A. A good start.

Or are video games to blame for me writing that to?

Maybe games producers should label their products with warnings such as...

...."Dont play this game if you are prone to running amok with automatic weapons and suicidal tendencies".

So what should one remove first?:

The cause people can't distinguish between entertainment and reality.

or

Stuff that teaches/challenges people to distinguish between entertainment and reality.

or

People that cannot distinguish between entertainment and reality.

Hamel's family should take responsibility for the death.
If their dumb kids shot the neighbours cat I spose they'd blame it on Tom and Jerry FFS!

The kids probably think its easier to blame their actions on a game rather than face the fact that they are sick in the head.

It is an 18 certificate game the parents should be repremanded

If I seen some kids shooting cars, I would follow them FAST and friggen ram the rear of their car off the rad, then get out and shoot THEM in the knee caps until the cops came.

I've always said it would just be a matter of time before something like this happened.
I know it's 'only a game', but everyone I know who plays it, 18 or not, just can't resist ignoring the games 'objective' and clubbing a street full of people to death with a golf club, which, despite the fact I'm not some kind of think-of-the-kids numpty, I find a bit disturbing.
If they made the game so you couldn't do that kind of thing, and kept the violence between you and the 'bad guys', so you lost the game if you accidently killed someone, it would be better received.
There is a moral point here and I've been pointing it out for a while - what did I say?

im off down to millets tomorrow to get me some cammo gear and a bowie knife, then off to the local golf shop for a ping no1 wood, then to the local air rifle stockist for an illegally uprated .22 with both lazer and night vision sights and then im off to the top of the victoria plaza carpark to take pot-shots at all and sundry.......after all,if they can blame gta then i shouldnt have a problem blaming metal gear solid, gta, commando, green beret, operation wolf and medal of honour for my mental lapse in reality.

edited to add smiley......i aint realy that ed up (yet!)

Never mind blaming the parents/game makers/people who sold the game these little bastards are well old enough to know what they were doing, might be an idea to blame whoever left a gun hanging around as well.

I dunno about this one, I suppose it is disturbing but its just healthy human nature, another one of the first things people do is steal a car and and do hand break turns in the middle of the road, when people get football games they often make a custom player who is fat slow with no skill etc, its just doing things you couldn't do in real life.

Has anyone seen the site these parasites have set up?

Full of lines about "Taking on Big Entertainment" etc. I will dig the link out later should anyone fancy a laugh.

Another recent "case" the same lawyers are following involved a 14 year old who stabbed a relative shortly after playing Diablo 2.

GTA3 Is one of the best selling games of recent years, I would be suprised had any kid not played it.

Anyone remember the attempts to link the columbine high school shootings to Doom?

One of the most played games of all time.

May I suggest that if there were ANY likelyhood of either of these inciting people to go out and randomly shoot people, then as TENS of MILLIONS of copies of each were sold (and god knows how many pirated), we would be looking at a lot more homicidal rampages globally.

Including one hell of a lot of Phers, after all we have discussed GTA3 in detail on here....

Games are dangerous - has anyone else here got groin strain from trying the "hide ten feet above the floor in a corridor by doing the splits" move from Splinter Cell?

/sarcasm mode on
And of course there was the trouble I got into for attempting to remove a guy's spinal column ala Mortal Combat...
/sarcasm mode off

At the end of the day there are enough nutters out there. Of course its never their fault, something always made them do it...

I'm concerned that the parents were apparently unaware their kids were playing a violent (if very amusing) 18 rated game.

However, I'm even more concerned that these kids had access to a gun as well.....

Can we do a drive-by on the legal idiot who decided this was a good idea?

The best reply I can think of is suggest people listen/read Sacred Reich - Whos to blame

lyrics:www.metrolyrics.com/lyrics/114312/Sacred_Reich/Who's_To_Blame/

Its a song about parents blaming rock songs causing a suicide. The same argument can be made about video games.
