Peugeot RC Hybrid Concept

Peugeot to unveil 313bhp hybrid concept at paris show

Peugeot has unveiled images of a new hybrid concept car that will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The 'RC', whose full name will be revealed at the show, promises high levels of efficiency and performance and will have four doors and four seats.

Peugeot claims that power could be as high as 313bhp and CO2 emissions will be 109 g/km in the combined cycle or zero in electric mode. Even more interesting is the fact it will have 'great driving enjoyment'...

It looks great!

I hope they put it in production. PSA needs a flagship like this, since they don't make WRC cars like Subaru and Mitsubishi.

I wander if it'll be within my next company car budget

313bhp AND the lowest band of VED? With those stats and those looks, it will go far. This could be a huge success just waiting, but why haven't Audi, BMW or Mercedes done anything similar?

Well, concepts are easy. BMW etc could all bring out a concept like this, whether it ever sees the light of day is another matter

Why do Peugeot make such good looking concept cars, and then make their production models look, well, err, crap?

Er, no. It won't. They haven't made anything that lives up to that promise since they dumped the 106GTi.

It's a hybrid, therefore heavy - heavier than it needs to be.

It'll have electric PAS, to improve economy.

It'll have too many gadgets, increasing weight.

...ergo it'll be about as involving as mixing paint.

Who cares? It will look nothing like the concept even if it is made and will come out ugly, overweight and front wheel drive. Plus, given the state of Peugoet electrics, would you really want an untested high tech propulsion system?

109g/km combined & zero on motor? So basically 218g/km then or worse dependent on ratio of battery to combustion during testing which they neglected to state, because if you have a 313bhp "sports car" you aren't gonna be tootling around on an electric motor are you. You may as well put a small battery in an Enzo and halve the emissions on it. Cynical? Maybe.

As someone previously stated it will look rubbish if/when it comes out.
Not that that will really matter as it will spend it's entire life in the dealership being fixed.
