Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place or if its been posted already but please could everyone take the time to sign this and send it on to as many people as you know :-)

Petition to: Remove the unfair and unjust retrospective Vehicle Execise Duty levy (back to 2001 year vehicles) as announced in the Budget on 12/3/08. | Number10.gov.uk

The Proposed scheme needs to be stopped and its yet another attack on the UK motorist. Retrospective road tax is unfair and is a gross infringement of rights.

For a scary example the proposed scheme see's my 51 Alfa 2.0 166 jump from £115 for six months tax to almost £250.

Parkers has a useful guide for anyone who wishes to check their own car.

Please post the link on any other motoring groups you are on.

Thanks

Well kinda used to the UK government screwing the population and as for being awake well I suppose it is a bit late considering the budget was months ago. However, I really dont think that enough people are aware how it will effect them directly. I being honest had never bothered to check and was horrified to see just how much they plan to steal from me!

As for voting for them..... happy enough to say I didnt :-)

I can understand people get upset when they have to pay out more and can see no benefit but all said and done - it's only a tax. If they don't get us this way, they'll find another. The money has to be raised somehow. VLD on my gas guzzler is still going to work out at less than £10 a week.

The tax should be legally challenged, as someone with the same car as Mr x can mod it and produce different emmissions surely?
The amount of cars on the road cannot keep growing without it becoming a privelidge eventually, we'll moan whatever they decide.
