Paris '08: SEAT Exeo Teaser

What do you call a teaser that doesn't tease?

A car, yesterday
A car, yesterday
What is it with ‘teasers’ these days? Is it really that dull just to wait until a motor show and unveil your new car for the first time? Do they think we are dumb enough to put it on our website just because it is called 'a teaser'?Apparently so – and here are the first official pics of the SEAT Exeo saloon.

The car is heading to the Paris Auto Show but obviously that doesn’t stop us being treated to some dark pictures of lights and grilles etc. The car will be available in saloon and estate and will compete with the Ford Mondeo and Renault Laguna. It will be built in Seat plant from Martorell, Spain starting 2009.

That might be because it's just a rebadged old A4.

The teaser is only showing you the Seat badges they've added, as most of us know what the rest of it looks like anyway.

Now we know why they did a teaser - they didn't want to show the whole thing!

Are all SEAT's as 5H1T as they seem ?

That's a serious question by the way.

Well it looks dull, but let's not prejudge the issue.

I quite enjoyed my last-model Leon -- nice and neat, like a tidy briefcase.

Since then, the wango-tango looks of most Seats has lacked appeal.

Some are crackers. The wife still has an old model Leon, and at 70k, never had any issues or rattles.
The potato product above doesn't look great though, I can imagine the chequered lap blanket on the rear parcel shelf already

I'm looking at that picture of the Proteto and wonderinghow they could have done any better. Being based on the A4 and trying to put a kind of Alfa 159 front end on the germanic design is an imposible task. So they have done the best they could, just kind of makes it look like a Korean missmash of styles. I pity the Seat deisgner who did this because its impossible job to make this car look good (and recognisable as a Seat) and not look like an A4.

Ooh, a 124 with 125 headlights! I liked my 124s; twin-cam "Ladas" that would eat Chavaliers for breakfast back then.

They did a pretty 127 Coupe too, SEAT.

What was this topic about? Who cares.

Tend to agree , it's just a bit sad that VAG seem to be going back to the old ways by recycling old tooling on the "lesser" brands rather than the recent cars which have been by and large up to date engineering across all brands. But this is understandable in this case because with the best will in the world Seat don't have a reputation for building big cars . so this would not sell in big enough numbers to make it viable as an all new design . At least they based it on a worthy and well designed car (if a bit dull) and you never know they may sharpen up the bouncy bits as they did when turning the Golf 4 into the Leon 1

Yep, this is it. The 1430 coupe, or Bocanegra

I spent 2 years in Spain in the early 70's as a VERY young kid. So being a car mad kid, in Spain, in the early 70's, I developed an unhealthy interest in SEAT's and Austin Victorias.
I still want a suicide door SEAT 600.
I'll get around to it one day

No they're not. Ibiza (with the right engine/suspension/brake combination) is an agile driver's car, has been for several models back.

SEAT have some of VAG's most advanced R&D faciulities actually. They helped develop the upcoming audi a1 chassis.
